I did watch the movie way back when released but luckily it was so long ago that this update is most welcome. It's just been announced that 12 Monkeys has already been renewed for another season. It's fresh and outlandish in its time travels and a likeable cast that grow on you from the outset. Recommended.

This show is tense and smart. The time travel is done superbly. The cast is strong. It is an ambitious show and the creators and crew have done a wonderful job. Science Fiction is one of my absolute favourite genres and this has captured it. It has been a while since I have truly sat down and been engrossed in a show where I've been left hanging for the next episode.

An ambitious and complex science-fiction show for Syfy to take on, this 12 Monkeys adaptation introduces the plot better than the movie, however it's hard to tell if 12 Monkeys will truly be able to extend the film's plot without buying too much time. At the moment though, 12 Monkeys is an excellent adaptation that take its own spin on the series while maintaining the core personality.

One thing I usually hate about time travel shows (movies) is that I usually don't agree with their interpretation of the time paradox. I don't believe you can change the past. Ever. If you could, you would not exist at the state in the present that allowed for you to go back in the first place. The future-present if predicated by every past action. This is the first show I can recall that's taken this approach. I am on board because of... More

This is the first show I can recall that's taken this approach. I am on board because of that. So why the 3 stars? The acting. Amanda Schull's good (I've liked her since Center Stage and she's great on Suits) but that Aaron Stanford is captain of #TeamTryTooHard. Hopefully he'll calm down now that the show's picked up for another season!

I’ll admit, I haven’t seen the 1995 movie, but I did watch the trailer. While Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis look top-notch, I don’t really feel that it’s a prerequisite for enjoying Syfy’s reimagining of “12 Monkeys.” In fact, I don’t plan to watch the movie because after the first episode I am too invested to risk ruining any of the plot twists for myself! I’ll admit, I haven’t seen the 1995 movie, but I did watch the trailer. I was hooked within the first few minutes of the pilot. This show is exciting and feels fresh (despite, of course, being a reimagining.) It is fast-paced, but breaks down enough of the plot early on so it’s easy to keep up with the dizzying concepts of time travel. This show blends the grittiness of dystopia and the magic of science fiction in the best way possible. I'll definitely be tuning in for the next episode - I can’t wait to see how this progresses!

It doesn't suck, but I'm not going to die if I can't watch an episode.

EDIT: Okay, I just watched episode 11 and that was the best episode so far. I won't spoil it, but if you can manage to make it through episodes 1 through 10, then this episode is your reward. Again, if they cancel it tomorrow, I'm not going to die, but the show is finally worth watching now. I hope the last two episodes are the same, otherwise this show is... More
