Tonight, NBC is airing two episodes apiece of 30 Rock and The Office , which got me to thinking: Which of these superlative sitcoms holds up better when you watch them as summer reruns? I'm not trying to set up some ridiculous which-show-is-better comparison -- obviously, each of these sitcoms is first-rate and has unique qualities. But different questions of style and content come into play here. Does The Office, which tends to follow storylines for longer arcs, make for less-engaging rerun drop-in visits, because you have to know the backstories? (For instance, one episode tonight involves Ed Helms' Andy finding out for the first time that Dwight was intimate with Angela.) By contrast, any edition of 30 Rock is so chock-full of free-standing one-liners and brilliant, out-of-nowhere non sequiturs, that you can drop into any episode and not have to know too much about what's gone on previously. Tonight, for example, there's a rerun about Liz's first date with Jon Hamm's character, and Jack wanting so much to bond-in-every-sense with Salma Hayek that he attends a Catholic service with her. I apply my own Seinfeld rule to sitcom reruns. What I mean by that is, Seinfeld is the one modern sitcom (its predecessor would be The Honeymooners) that for me, no matter what episode or season I drop in on, I want to spend time with those characters -- be a part of that comfy world for a half-hour. Right now, I'm leaning toward The Office as providing that kind of welcoming rerun-world most often. But I could be persuaded that 30 Rock is its own alternate-universe of warm pleasure. What do you do? When you come across an Office or 30 Rock rerun, which one are you most likely to watch? Source here
I am not a big fan of posts that are just complaining, but come on guys, this is getting ridiculous. Basically every single megavideo link i have clicked on today has been wrong! I didn't mind when they started only letting you watch 72 minutes, that's their prerogative but the wrong or short links? come on! that's something that we can totally control. I absolutely hate clicking on a link and seeing the "for full episode go to blahblahblah.com" or having it be only a one second video, but now the links aren't even posted in the right show! I went to watch Bones and get a link to Harper's Island! There is also the fact that most of the time over half of the links are just reposts. I know that we can mark the links as broken and the moderators will get to them but there are only so many mods compared to the number of people posting these links. So I am begging everyone to please please PLEASE stop doing this. This is a great site that I use way too much and if the quality of links keeps going down i will be incredibly distressed!
Bromances lend themselves so well to hilarious, awkward, and adorably comical moments that we find some of our best bromances in our favorite comedies, some of which were included in SideReel's Top 10 Favorite TV Bromances ! So of the comedy bromances below and any we've missed, who do you think is the funniest bromance of them all? Friends - Joey & Chandler Scrubs - JD & Turk 30 Rock - Tracy & Kenneth The Office - Michael & Dwight How I Met Your Mother - Ted & Barney & Marshall Psych - Shawn & Gus Chuck - Chuck & Morgan Flight of the Conchords - Bret & Jemaine Seinfeld - Jerry & George Family Guy - Stewie & Brian The Big Bang Theory - Leonard & Sheldon Entourage - Eric & Vince King of the Hill - Hank & Dale
The Office has been my favorite comedy for some time, but now that I've finally caught on to the hilarious phenomenon that is 30 Rock , I've found myself still enjoying The Office every week, but laughing a whole lot more while watching 30 Rock right after it. That lethal Lemon-Donaghy combo just might be too much for the Michael-Dwight-Jimbo crew! The Office used to be full of a lot more laugh out loud moments, and though I still think the episodes are very good, I feel as if 30 Rock is really trumping The Office as the best comedy on NBC's "Thursday night, comedy done right," line-up. So what do you think? If you're a fan of The Office, do you still find it bringing you side-splitting moments? And if you're a fan of both, which do you think is your fav for comedy night?
A friend of mine recently suggested to me that all of these guest stars this season (Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Martin, et al.) might mean that the show is in grasping at straws to try to reel in more people. Until then I thought that it was just great though and perhaps the big names meant that big interest was going into the show, especially after Tina Fey's version of Sarah Palin stirred up such interest last month. What do you guys think? I don't fear that 30 Rock will get canceled anytime soon, but are all these guest stars really a good thing?
I've contributed links frequently in the past, and I haven't done it in a while, but the buttons for adding/deleting links are just not there anymore... is this a problem for anyone else? am I just kind of blind? suggestions?
is it just me or does anybody else think that TINA FEY from 30 ROCK is HOT!!!?
I thought this tv-show was great, it was terrific in it's preformance. it showed lot of day jobs in a station's like nbc. I would rate this show 5/5 stars.
I was just wondering how every one else felt about if Liz and Jack were to start going out .. i think they would make the funniest couple!
