'30 Rock's' Alec Baldwin Blasts the New York Post Again

When  30 Rock  actor  Alec Baldwin  went off on a Starbucks employee last week he probably knew the story would get some play. But on Monday, Baldwin alleges that The New York Post may be using some shady techniques to keep the story alive. “Did the NY Post just threaten to do a negative piece on someone close to me bc I outed them 4 harassing me at my home on 9-11?”  Baldwin tweets . He later followed that up with, “I grow a’weary of the media.” To understand why he’s so “a’weary,” one must go back to the inciting incident. Read More...

Elizabeth Banks on Her Roles in The Hunger Games, Our Idiot Brother, and 30 Rock

Elizabeth Banks. Elizabeth Banks landed her first feature role ten years ago, as Paul Rudd’s slobbery make-out partner in Wet Hot American Summer . Now the two are onto their fifth collaboration with Our Idiot Brother (in theaters August 26). In it, Banks plays a cutthroat journalist named Miranda who is trying to impress her bosses at Vanity Fair with a good story. Rudd is the movie’s idiot brother, Ned, a guy who’s just out of jail for selling pot to a cop in uniform and reentering the lives of his three putatively more “together” sisters (Banks, Emily Mortimer, and Zooey Deschanel). Jada Yuan spoke with Banks for a New York Magazine feature shortly after the actress finished shooting her first scenes for what is sure to be her most watched movie to date: The Hunger Games , the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s hugely popular dystopian trilogy. Banks stars as Effie Trinket, the pink-haired “mentor” to teenage heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she’s forced to fight other kids to the death on TV. Here is more from their wide-ranging conversation. Read More...

'30 Rock' to continue with or without Alec Baldwin, says Lorne Michaels

Previewing his latest scripted venture, "Up All Night," alongside stars Christina Applegate, Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph at the Television Critics Association press tour, executive producer Lorne Michaels had some news on another one of his series. Vulture reports that the "30 Rock" EP has no intention of seeing his critically-adored comedy end after the upcoming sixth season, despite numbered claims by star Alec Baldwin that he'll leave the show in 2012. "No, I really can't," Michaels said when Vulture asked if he could see Season 6 being the last for the show. "I can't imagine doing the show without Alec, but I couldn't imagine doing ['Saturday Night Live'] without Chevy [Chase.]"The "SNL" creator also insisted that creator and star Tina Fey remains "completely committed" to the series despite speculation that she too might be more interested in pursuing other projects. Could "30 Rock" work without Jack Donaghy -- or would you rather see...

Condoleezza Rice Makes a Cameo on '30 Rock' (VIDEO)

Jack Donaghy, played by Alec Baldwin, has lived an interesting life. On Thursday night's '30 Rock' (Thu., 10PM on NBC) we learned a little bit about one of his old flames, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Apparently, she still carries a bit of a torch, and also a grudge. So when Donaghy needed her help to get his wife out of North Korea, things were, shall we say, tense. When Avery (played by Elizabeth Banks) is captured by Kim Jong Il (played in an almost unrecognizable cameo by Margaret Cho), Donaghy needs Rice's help. But Rice starts in on him as soon as she sees him. "You know, I've been to the DMZ, they have signs. Can your wife not read?" Was it that Avery is younger? Or funnier? Rice does get some measure of relief, challenging Donaghy to a musical duel to see who's better - Rice on piano and Donaghy on flute. Rice won that one.
