The 30 Best Auditions of 'American Idol' Season 14

Over the course of the American Idol season 14 auditions, we saw some exceptional talent receive golden tickets. And while a few of the cities didn't deliver as we had hoped, each stop had great singers who are worthy of being on our Best Auditions list. From standouts like Maddy Hudson and Savion Wright to some surprises like Garrett Miles singing in Spanish and even unusual instrument choices, it's shaping up to be a strong season. Take a look at our rankings of the best auditions of season 14.

The auditions are now over for American Idol season 14. Looking back over the past four weeks, we saw some great talent, including Emily Brooke, Savion Wright, Maddy Hudson, Rayvon Owen and many more. Some of the cities were a little short on talent, unfortunately. But Hollywood Week will be able to weed out the singers not ready for this competition yet.   Before we get there, though, let's take a look back at the final audition episode from San Francisco.   Read More...

[Video] 'American Idol' One Singer to Watch: Maddy Hudson Performs a Beyonce Song with Emotion

It's the final week of auditions for American Idol season 14 -- after these final two nights, will San Francisco deliver with strong talent? After seeing part one, it's not as strong as I would have hoped, but there were still a couple fantastic singers, one of whom I can't wait to see perform again.   Outside of the top two, there were still some good singers scattered throughout the hour, but I'm not convinced yet that they'll be memorable going forward.  Read More...

The audition rounds are almost over, with only one week left to see who else has a shot at winning American Idol . As I mentioned in my last One Singer to Watch article, the auditions have been great overall in season 14. But then Minneapolis came around and stopped that momentum in its tracks. With New Orleans, Harry Connick, Jr.'s hometown, as the next city the judges visited, will the talent show up?   The short answer is: sort-of, but not really. Harry really wanted his town to impress him and the other two judges, but that didn't really happen. Having said that, the New Orleans stop was definitely an improvement over Minneapolis. Hopefully the final week of auditions brings the top-notch talent back out in full force.   Read More...

[Video] 'American Idol' One Singer to Watch: Mark Andrew Stands Out with a 'Jungle Book' Song

I guess it was bound to happen at some point. After solid-to-great nights of auditions in season 14 of American Idol , Minneapolis brought that to a halt, delivering auditions that were mostly average or good-but-forgettable. But don't worry, there was still a stand-out singer I can claim as the one singer to watch.   Many of the singers who received a golden ticket to Hollywood have a lot of work to do if they want a chance at making it far in the competition. Take the first audition of the night by Shannon Berthiaume, who sang one of my favorite songs, "House of the Rising Sun." She's really good, but way too shouty.   Read More,,,
