Randy Jackson: 'Idol Needs More Than One Save'

Randy Jackson has moved into the informal Lead Judge spot this season of American Idol, filling the void Simon Cowell left. Randy may not be as mean as Simon, but hes the judge most listened to by America, the one most reflective of the way America votes. And as Randy assumes this role more and more, he is making his voice heard in a bigger way to the press. This interview with Randy is the second in as many weeks, and he holds nothing back chatting with Ryan Seacrest for E!Online.Among some...

'American Idol:' Tell Us What 21st-Century Songs the Top 7 Should Sing!

This week, 'American Idol''s Top 7 finally get to sing songs that aren't older than they are, and we're psyched to see what fresh tunes the kids come up with. Will Scotty McCreery country-fy Bieber? Will Lauren Alaina go Gaga? Doubtful, but hopefully the contestants will take some chances with the kind of tunes that are filling up their iPods. As for our dream set list, this week we're asking for a little help putting together our picks from you, 'Idol' fans with an ear for the music of "Gen-Z." Let us know what 21st-century tunes the contestants should sing (and why!) in the comments below, and we'll put the best choices in our song list (with a shout-out to you, of course) for this week. So slap on your Beats headphones (or other listening implement of choice) and give these whippersnappers a run for the money with music of the modern age! 'American Idol' airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM ET on FOX.

Paul's Gone, Who's Next to Leave 'American Idol'?

Last night's bottom three gave us a look at how America is voting. It looks like the performances may affect the voting a little bit from week to week, but in the end people will vote for their favorites from here on out. With the judges rarely providing the most helpful feedback (for the contestants and for the voters), voters have shouldered the burden of narrowing down the field based on their judgment alone. Here are my predictions, based on the voting trends so far (not based on who I think is better or worse): Even though Stefano had a great performance this week, he was still in the bottom two for what, the fourth time? The poor guy can't take much more stress! I predict that Stefano will be the next to go (just put him out of his bottom two misery already).

'American Idol:' Why the Judges Won't Get Tougher

If you had a hard time sitting through Wednesday night's 90-minute 'American Idol' love-in, you're not alone. Since the live shows began, the judges' commentary has devolved more and more into irrelevant, repetitive hyperbole, with even 10-year 'Idol' vet Randy Jackson drinking and then regurgitating the Kool-Aid in his sugary reverence for just about everything everyone does this season. The judges know the fans and critics don't like it. Just the other night, J.Lo told Scotty McCreery, 'Everyone wants us to be tough on you guys, but it's hard 'cause you're all so good!' Were Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart Hot For Each Other In Their 'Idol' Duet? (VIDEO)

While the Internet continues to rumble with rumors that 'American Idol' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX) Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams are more than just friends, the two of them showed real sparks of chemistry on Thursday night's results show. Paired for a duet, they dusted off a track from Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The song had them both 'Moanin'' and scatting and staring deep into one another's eyes as the music appeared to transport them both someplace else entirely. It was as if we were witness to a private session between the two of them, and easily one of the strongest performances either one of them had ever given on the show. Definitely, it was a more confident vocal than they gave on their respective songs the night before. Read More...

'American Idol': Rihanna performs 'California King Bed'

In a perfect blend of ballad and a little rock n' roll, Rihanna performed her new single "California King Bed" on "American Idol's" Apr. 14 results show. Sporting a gorgeous dusty rose-colored gown and red curled hair, Rihanna took the stage surrounded by smoke and back-up dancers all dressed in white. We're not sure what the dance the back-up dancers were doing with the sheets is called, but it looked really, really beautiful. We thought Rihanna sounded pretty good on the track, better than in previous live performances. After her performance, Rihanna chatted with Ryan Seacrest about her upcoming tour and revealed some previously-unknown details. There will be two special sections on the stage for fans to sit in so they can actually be part of the show. Rihanna calls the sections "VIP." Sounds pretty cool to us... and probably expensive. What did you think of "California King Bed," Zappers?...

'American Idol': Kelly Clarkson, Jason Aldean's 'Don't You Wanna Stay' rules

How great was Kelly Clarkson's duet with Jason Aldean, "Don't You Wanna Stay"? We all know she can blow, but it's such a lovely pop-country duet. It's also wonderful to see her back on the "American Idol" stage.Clarkson had a bit of a parting of the ways with "Idol" for awhile, but she's been back a couple times in the past few years, so we're glad to see they've at least somewhat patched that up. She also looked great. Clarkson's weight fluctuations have been the subject of much media scrutiny and while we have always loved her just the way she is, we do love to see her look smokin' hot, just to show all the haters. The video of below is of their performance last month on "Ellen," we'll post the "American Idol" performance as soon as we have video....
