'American Idol' Top 5 set list and mentor - 'Little Steven' Van Zandt - revealed

When music legends agree to appear on "American Idol," the producers probably don't question the congruity of which giant appears on which theme week. So let's ignore the fact that it's British week and celebrate the fact that The E Street Band's Little Steven Van Zandt is lending his expertise to the Top 5 as they take on tunes from across the pond. And just what are Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez singing this week? It's not clear which songs belong to which singer, but the official "American Idol" Twitter posted band leader Ray Chew's set list, giving us a glimpse of all the songs before they're sung on tonight's (May 2) episode. '60s: "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," The Temptations "The Letter," The Box Tops "Proud Mary," Tina Turner "Fortunate Son," Credence Clearwater Revival "River Deep, Mountain High," Ike and Tina Turner British Pop: "To Love Somebody," The Bee... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-top-5-setlist-and-mentor---little-steven-van-zandt---revealed.html

American Idol Top 5 talk British Week and Hollie Cavanaghs heritage

It's only natural that the spotlight will be on 18-year-old Hollie Cavanagh during "American Idol" Top 5 British week, considering the Liverpool native lived in the U.K. until she moved to Texas as a pre-teen. But Cavanagh tells Zap2it before the show that this week doesn't feel any different than the others. "Everyone's like 'Oh, this is your week, Hollie! British week!' And I'm like 'It doesn't really mean anything!' It just means that I was born there. I mean, I have a good song," she says. "I love my song."But while people will be looking to Cavanagh to set the tone, country girl Skylar Laine has yet another week outside of her comfort zone. "Is it ever what you think of when you think of country music? They've been throwing all kinds of curve balls," she says of the theme. "Where's the country week?!"Phillip Phillips says it was difficult to choose a song, because... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-top-5-talk-british-week-and-hollie-cavanaghs-heritage.html

'American Idol' Top 5 take on British Week while Coldplay and Carrie Underwood perform

The "American Idol" Top 5 will take us on a (metaphorical) trip across the pond when they tackle the songs of U.K. artists during British Week. Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez will sing during Wednesday, May 2nd's British music-themed performance show. The following night, Coldplay and Carrie Underwood will perform during the results show. It'll be Coldplay's first visit to the "Idol" stage, where they'll play a song from their latest album, "Mylo Xyloto." Underwood of course is no stranger to "Idol," having won Season 4 in 2005.There are just four performance shows left until a Season 11 winner is crowned. Will a woman be able to take the title, or will a dude win for the fifth year in a row? Who are you rooting for?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-top-5-take-on-british-week-while-coldplay-and-carrie-underwood-perform.html
