'American Idol': Lee DeWyze's first-week sales lower than all winners or runner-ups

The numbers are out for "American Idol" Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze's debut album "Live It Up" and they are not good. The album debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 39,000 units, according to Nielsen Soundscan. And actually, Lee isn't only the lowest-selling winner, but he's lower than any runner-up, beating Diana DeGarmo by 8,000 less albums sold. Now granted, that was in 2004 and this is 2010 -- people don't buy entire albums like they used to. But even just last year, Kris Allen sold 80,000 albums in one week and Glambert sold almost 200,000. To Read More Click Here.

'American Idol' to Go Straight to Top 12 and Give Challenges

"American Idol" may be more lenient in the age admittance but it is not taking it lightly the actual competition. Returning executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said there would be no more Top 24 stage. Instead, the contestants would be instantly whittled down to Top 12. "I didn't think [the top 24] were very good," Lythgoe told TV Guide of previous seasons. "I was bored with them by the time they got there." Details are still sketchy as to whether these Top 12 would be selected by the judges or by voting. Lythgoe and FOX also did not explain what would fill in the voting episodes which are now altered. To Read More Click Here.

Crystal Bowersox Eyes to Release Debut Album in Spring Instead of This Fall

Instead of planning to release her debut album in November in the same year she graduated from "American Idol" like some of the "Idol" alumni, Crystal Bowersox hopes to drop it next year in spring. "I don't want to rush something out just to hit Black Friday sales," she explained to 101.5 The River. "I don't think that's right," she continued. "[I don't want] just to have a product, but to have a good product, something that I will be proud of in 10, 15, 20 years. My debut album on a major label - it's a huge thing, and I don't want want to just put something out there that's thrown together to have something to sell. That's just not right." Crystal Bowersox has been signed to 19/Jive Records and toured with the other Top 9 contestants of "Idol" season 9. Her first gig after the summer traveling show will be with Michael Franti at San Fransisco's three-day festival on September 11. "I am so stoked," she said. "It's a peace rally, a three-day festival ... with one of my heroes." Source Here
