'America's Got Talent' Finale Results: The $1,000,000 Champion is Revealed

This is the end: we've seen all the performances, the people have voted, the Orville's been popped and it's time to announce a winner. Last night was a strong though largely safe showing for the top six, most memorable for Taylor's meta-humor and Kenichi's grand finale projection routine. The musicians were all well within their respective wheelhouses, and Collins Key is still a little too post-millennial MTV for the old folks like me -- that is, older than their teens. I can't make a prediction with any real confidence, but I can say that I'd like to see Kenichi win this thing and Taylor be his runner-up: when you recap shows like this, you get really used to formula really quickly, and it's always a joy when someone manages to surprise you with some actual creativity. That's just my opinion, though -- I know a good many Americans who prefer clean-cut polite young Southern white Christian veteran coal-mining country singers who love their mamas, so we'll just have to see who comes out on top.   The live blog starts now:

"America's Got Talent" Season 8 revealed its winner Wednesday (Sept. 18) -- who takes home the prize money and the Las Vegas show?The six acts left were brought out together and one by one, they were eliminated. The act that finished sixth was Cami Bradley, which really surprised us, honestly. She was terrific and we thought she was a shoo-in to finish in the top 3.The act that finished fifth was Collins Key and fourth was Forte, which was about right for us. Jimmy Rose finished third -- we would've swapped him with Cami Bradley. But the Final 2 came down to comic Taylor Williamson versus dancer Kenichi Ebina. TV ratings: 'New Girl' premiere up from last year, 'Dads' and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' have decent starts

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013The opening night of FOX's comedy block turned in mostly decent results Tuesday: "New Girl" was up over its premiere a year ago, and the series debuts of "Dads" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" did OK, with "Brooklyn" building on its lead-in. On the downside, "The Mindy Project" fell from its 2012 premiere, but it did do better than last season's average.Elsewhere Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" rose in both viewers and adults 18-49 for NBC, and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" rebounded for The CW after dipping last week. ABC primed its audience for next week's "Agents of SHIELD" debut by airing "Iron Man 2."Thanks to "AGT," NBC led the night in viewers with just over 9 million, along with a 5.6 rating/9 share in households.
