Week of 3/15 - Ten Things We Can't Wait For!

This week, we can't wait for: The 2 hour Kings premiere! Some will love it and some will hate it, but I'd advise you all to give the first episode of new series Kings, Goliath, a shot. It stars the incomparable Ian McShane and is definitely different from everything else currently on TV. Series finale of Kyle XY ! It isn't so much excitement I feel that this ABC Family series will be prematurely concluding, but I couldn't not include it in a list of the week's highlights. Will the series answer all of the lingering questions? Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill return to The CW ! It has been well over a month and we have been missing our favorite Upper East Siders and Tree Hill residents. Both series finally return this week with new episodes; look for the return of Leighton Meester's real life boyfriend Sebastian Stan (also now appearing in Kings) to reappear on Gossip Girl. Judy Greer on House ! I haven't been watching House regularly this season, but I might just tune in to catch guest star Judy Greer and a premise involving...a magical cat that can predict disease a death. Not a joke. Watch preview Scrubs returns with new episodes! I have to tell you, I can't quite understand what ABC has been doing with Scrubs. They went to all of the trouble to buy it, only to air a bunch of episodes in a clump and then show reruns for weeks. Needless to say, a new episode is finally back this week on a new night...Wednesday! Better Off Ted debuts on ABC! Another day, another new show premiere! Is Better Off Ted going to be ABC's answer to NBC's quirky work comedy duo of The Office and 30 Rock ? Judging by the previews, looks like Ted could be hilarious...or downright terrible. I'm curious to find out, and either way, it's nice to see frequent guest star Jay Harrington ( Private Practice ) get a shot at his own show. Barack Obama on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno ! Yeah, you read right. President Obama will be appearing as a guest on Thursday night's Tonight Show on NBC. This will be the first time ever that a current president has appeared as a guest on a late night program. Premiere of Party Down on Starz! From the creator of Veronica Mars , this is sure to be the show that puts Starz on the map as a provider of original programming. It's a winning premise: struggling actors form a catering company to pay the bills. It also has a winning cast, including guest appearances by multiple Mars alums. Premiere is already on if you can't wait! Episode 6 of Dollhouse ! It's the one we've been waiting for! Joss Whedon swears it. So does series star Eliza Dusku. If you've made it this far and haven't given up on Dollhouse yet, it only gets better from here...! Series finale of Battlestar Galactica ! I can't believe that the time has already come. Let's hope that this one goes out more like Six Feet Under (my personal favorite-ever series finale) than The L Word . What are you most excited for?

Caprica DVD & Pictures

On April 21, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica , Caprica , will be released on DVD (you can pre-order it on Amazon). Until then, I thought I would share not only the DVD box art (above), but also some pictures (thanks to Yahoo! Movies). Caprica will be stars Eric Stoltz (Mask, Pulp Fiction), Esai Morales ( Jericho , NYPD Blue ), Paula Malcomson ( Deadwood ER ) and Polly Walker ( Cane , Rome ). The Caprica series will premiere in 2010 on the Sci Fi Channel. Caprica Synopsis: Set 50 years before Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families and their patriarchs - Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) - as they compete and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies, a society recognizably close to our own. Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe blending action with corporate conspiracy and sexual politics. Tonight's TV Hot List for Friday, March 13, 2009

* Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (8 pm/ET Fox) The good news for the Connor clan is that they no longer have to figure out what to do with Riley - Jesse was kind enough to fatally shoot her in the last episode. The bad news is that they now have to figure out what to do with Cameron since they think she whacked Riley. Between dealing with the murder of his girlfriend and weighing the fate of his killing-machine roommate, it looks like John's going to suffer some growing pains. * ''' Wife Swap (8 pm/ET ABC) The series marks its 100th episode with a novel swap. Two families from previous episodes, selected by viewers, return to trade again. A mom who believes she has special powers (psychic ability, the power to speak to the dead and control the weather) swaps families with one devoted to empirical science and chasing violent storms. The children of the two families exchange their thoughts at a kids' table meeting. l * Jockeys (9:30 pm/ET Animal Planet ) The first season races to the finish tonight at the Breeders' Cup Classic as this up-close-and-personal look at the lives of jockeys, young and old, comes to an end. Hall of Famer Mike Smith hopes to win big on Zenyatta. Victory would earn the undefeated filly the "Horse of the Year" title and add to Smith's superstar status. Will experience triumph over youth in this unpredictable annual race? * Numb3rs (10 pm/ET CBS) Larry enlists the help of the Los Angeles Lakers' Pau Gasol and Jordan Farmar in an extreme effort to end CalSci's lengthy losing streak in basketball. But the real focus in this perplexing hour is whether a condemned mob boss committed the murder for which he is about to be executed. The death-row resident confessed to the homicide and still claims responsibility, even though new evidence strongly suggests otherwise. It leads to a moral dilemma for the team: Should they attempt to exonerate one of the most dangerous men in the mob? * Battlestar Galactica (10 pm/ET Sci Fi) One of the coolest things about Edward James Olmos is the man's voice: When he belts out a command or gives his people a pep talk, it resonates and sounds positively credible. It's a trait that comes in handy tonight as Admiral Adama solicits volunteers for what may very well be a suicide mission in Part 1 of "Daybreak." Source here

Week of 3/8 - Ten Things We Can't Wait For!

Another great week of television is upon us! 10 things we are most excited for: 1. The L Word finishes up its run! - Loved it or hated it , we've got to single out the "Last Word" for groundbreaking Showtime series The L Word . Still holding out hope for that spinoff? 2. Breaking Bad Season 2 Premiere! - You might have glossed over this show's quick 7 episode first season, but Bryan Cranston's Emmy-award winning performance makes this one that you definitely don't want to miss! 3. Guest star mania on How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory ! Laura Prepon hits up HIMYM as Ted's ex-girlfriend and Summer Glau hits up Big Bang as herself! 4. Premiere of Dancing with the Stars ! I was never a DWTS enthusiast, but the Olympics-nut that I was...I can't wait to see little Shawn Johnson put on her dancing shoes! Steve Wozniak should be a hoot as well. 5. Nathan Fillion returns to TV in Castle ! Guest starring in Desperate Housewives was a start, but we all know that Nathan Fillion deserves his own show! 6. South Park returns! South Park returns Wednesday night with an episode promising to skewer those slightly obnoxious Jonas Brothers and their purity rings... 7. Chopping Block premieres on NBC! Yeah, it looks like a cheap knock off of every other cooking show on TV, but its high time NBC introduces its own spin on the food theme, so we're willing to give this a shot! 8. Smallville and Supernatural return to The CW! - It's about damn I right? Look for Tori Spelling's return to Smallville as Linda Lake. 9. Old Friends visit the ER ! - Eriq La Salle pays his dues this week as ER continues its swan song. Noah Wyle's (Dr. Carter) guest starring run also continues. Oh, and though only word: Clooney. 10. It's the beginning of the end for Battlestar Galactica ! - This Friday marks the first part of SciFi's sure-to-be-epic conclusion of BSG. It's a can't miss! What can't you wait for on TV this week?

'CSI' and 'Battlestar Galactica' Clash on April 16 Episode

" CSI : Crime Scene Investigation" and " Battlestar Galactica " merge has been reported by Chicago Tribune in late February, but new details confirming the sort-of-crossover have just been unearthed. The April 16 episode of "CSI" will have "a bit of 'Battlestar Galactica' vibe to it," CSI executive producer Naren Shankar confirmed. "It's about a murder at a science fiction convention," he said further. "Hodges (Wallace Langham) and Wendy (Liz Vassey) re-enacting scenes from a campy - and entirely fictional - 1960's era sci-fi TV show." In the episode called "A Space Oddity", BSG star Kate Vernon will play an undisclosed role along with the show's creator Ronald D. Moore. The episode is written by David Weddle and Bradley Thompson, who previously wrote an episode for BSG. Occasional BSG director Michael Nanking will sit in as the helmer. Weddle also mentioned previously that there would be "other surprise cameos for sci-fi fans." Source here

All Along The Watchtower: Bear McCreary's Thoughts on Islanded In a Stream of Stars - Featured

When I first heard the Cylon Switch Song, "All Along the Watchtower", I wasn't necessarily sold on its ability to be significant. I admit I did question their choice and was sure there had to be a better more powerful alternative. I have come to appreciate the Switch Song in the last few episodes of Battlestar Galactica , particularly the performances the song inspires each week from the Final 5, Grace Park and Katee Sackhoff. Bear McCreary, music composer for BSG, gives us some insight on BSG's use of music as well as a preview of the DVD release. 'One of the biggest challenges of Islanded was actually scoring two different versions of it. In addition to the version you just watched, I also scored an extended version for the DVD release. Not only are many of the dialog scenes expanded, but there are several scenes that were cut entirely from the show that required substantial original music. One of these scenes established that Tyrol is now in the brig for his role in Boomer's escape and kidnapping of Hera. I was disappointed that this story point was cut from the episode, since Chief's arc last week was so emotionally powerful.' You can read Bear's entire blog here
