Suddenly, I find myself counting the minutes until 24 's new season. Perhaps this is why: Katee Sackhoff is joining the cast! Sources confirms that the Battlestar Galactica heroine has been tapped to play the series regular role of Dana Walsh, a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU. Translation: Chloe-Starbuck catfight alert! This fraktastic casting coup hit a road block last week when Sackhoff abruptly took herself out of the running. But late Friday, word surfaced that the BSG badass was once again in the mix. Here's more scoop on Sackhoff's character... She's in a relationship with fellow agent Davis Cole (played by the just-cast Freddie Prinze. Jr.), and she apparently has a skeleton in her closet she's trying desperately to keep hidden. As I previously reported, 24's eighth season -- which premieres Jan. 17, 2010 -- will be set in the Big Apple and center on an assassination plot against a visiting foreign leader (Slumdog Millionaire's Anil Kapoor). In addition to Sackhoff and Prinze, new Day 8 blood includes Forrest Gump's Mykelti Williamson, Kissing Jessica Stein's Jennifer Westfeldt (as a journalist with ties to Kapoor's diplomat), and The Starter Wife's Chris Diamantopoulos (as President Taylor's Chief of Staff). Thoughts on Sackhoff's casting? Is this going to be 24's best day ever? Comment away below! Source
Fans of Battlestar Galactica will want to mark this down: Virtuality - a pilot from BSG creator Ronald D. Moore that will likely never come into fruition as a series - is being aired as a 2 hour movie on June 26th at 8PM on FOX. The series was initially slated to air on July 4th, but has since been moved up a week. Virtuality stars familiar face Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, whom fans of the short-lived New Amsterdam will recognize, as well as Sienna Guillory, James D'Arcy, Joy Bryant and Clea Duvall. FOX's description of the program: "The crew of the Phaeton is approaching the go/no-go point of its epic 10-year journey through outer space. With the fate of Earth in the crew's hands, the pressure is intense. The best bet for helping the crew members maintain their sanity is the cutting-edge virtual-reality technology installed on the ship. It's the perfect stress-reliever until they realize a glitch in the system has unleashed a virus on to the ship. Tensions mount as the crew decides how to contain the virus and complete their mission. Meanwhile, their lives are being taped for a reality show back on Earth." Source
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA COMPOSER BEAR MCCREARY TO RELEASE TWO RECORDINGS AND ANNOUNCES LOS ANGELES AND COMIC CON CONCERTS Taiko Drums To Start Summer With A Bang -- SO SAY WE ALL!!! (May 27, 2009- Burbank, CA) â Battlestar Galactica and Caprica composer Bear McCreary will have a busy summer, with the release of two soundtrack recordings and concert performances. On June 13 the music from Battlestar Galactica will kick-off the 2009 Grand Performances Series at California Plaza. Three days later, on June 16, La-La Land Records will release the soundtrack for Caprica. Bear McCreary will again conduct the music from Battlestar Galactica for three nights at the House of Blues in San Diego from July 23-25th â during Comic Con! The concerts will celebrate the July 21 release of a special 2-CD set, Battlestar Galactica: Season 4. Battlestar Galactica began as an original SCI FI Channel mini-series in 2003. Billions of human lives were consumed by nuclear fires as the Cylons, intelligent robots created by man, rebelled against their makers. A small, rag-tag fleet of survivors escaped and fled into the outer reaches of the universe in search of the mythical, lost "13th colony" â Earth. The SCI FI series celebrated its finale in March of 2009, having received boundless critical acclaim and awards, including the prestigious Peabody Award as well as special recognition from the United Nations. A few weeks later, the prequel Caprica, set 50 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica, was released on DVD by Universal Home Entertainment. Caprica will begin airing in early 2010 on the SCI FI Channel. The series chronicles an astonishing scientific breakthrough taking shape on the planet Caprica. The rapidly evolving spheres of human and mechanical engineering have collided, along with the fates of two families. Joined by tragedy in an explosive instant of terror, two rival clans led by powerful patriarchs, Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) and Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) duel in an era of questionable ethics, corporate machinations and unbridled personal ambition as the final war for humanity looms. On June 16, 2009 La-La Land Records will release the soundtrack for Caprica, composed by Bear McCreary, one of the top young composers working in Hollywood. His work on the television series Battlestar Galactica has been described as offering âsome of the most innovative music on TV today,â by Variety, and his blog www.bearmccreary.com/blog, which features in-depth inside looks at the process of scoring Battlestar Galactica, was called "one of the best blogs in the business. It's a fascinating look at the process of making music for film and television and the care he takes with aligning the score with the twists and turns of each character's plot lines," by The Hollywood Reporter. Bear McCrearyâs feature film credits include Wrong Turn 2 and the Rest Stop films. He also scores the series Eureka and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and will be scoring the upcoming SCI FI series Caprica and the Capcom video game Dark Void. McCreary was among a handful of select protégés of late film music legend Elmer Bernstein and is a classically trained composer with degrees in Composition and Recording Arts from the prestigious USC Thornton School of Music. In 2005 La-La Land Records released the soundtrack for Battlestar Galatica: Season One, which quickly became the top selling release by the label. One year later, the second season was released and was celebrated with Bear McCrearyâs first sold-out concert performance in Los Angeles. In 2008 the concerts moved to a larger venue selling out two nights at the famed Roxy on the Sunset Strip. The two-CD Season Four soundtrack will be released on July 21st. The first disc features music from seasons 4.0 and 4.5, with the music from âDaybreakâ, the stunning series finale, featured on the second disc. The Caprica o
It's been pretty busy on the Battlestar Galactica front lately. It's off air, sure, but inevitably one thing leads to another, and now, we have more former troopers showing up in another sci-fi series, and the soundtracks getting some love (and a release date). First up, it's been confirmed that three BSG stars will take roles in another series that will air on Sci Fi, Warehouse 13 . Tricia Helfer will guest star as an FBI agent based in Chicago, while Michael Hogan will play the father of the show's star, Myka, played by Joanne Kelly. (Funnily enough, the person playing Myka's mom is Hogan's real-life wife, Susan.) One more for Warehouse 13: the guy behind the Fleet's resident lawyer, Mark Sheppard, will star as a mysterious figure who represents the organization behind the Warehouse. It's as if they were never really gone, it seems. That series makes its premiere on Sci-Fi on July 7. And then there's the soundtrack for BSG's final season, which will be released on July 21. The release will be marked by a couple of concerts with the show's composer, Bear McCreary, at the helm. The first one, on June 13, will kick off the 2009 Grand Performances Series at the California Plaza in Los Angeles. The second set of performances will be in San Diego's House of Blues, from July 23-25, smack in the middle of that year's Comic-Con. As for the soundtrack, well, it's two discs of music from the split-up fourth season, with the music from the series finale--"Daybreak", which aired in March--featured on the second one. That one's out, again, on July 21--but much earlier than that, on June 16, the soundtrack for the BSG prequel, Caprica , will hit shelves (and online stores, surely), also composed by McCreary. Former Battlestar Galactica toasters Tricia Helfer and Michael Hogan are staying in Sci Fi's orbit, signing on to guest star on the net's new paranormal dramedy Warehouse 13 (premiering July 7). Helfer will play a Chicago-based FBI agent, while Hogan has been cast as the father of Warehouse heroine Myka (Joanne Kelly). In a fun little twist, Hogan's real-life wife, Susan, will play the role of Myka's mom. And if that's not enough BSG for you, Mark Sheppard (who portrayed the Fleet's morally flexible lawyer, Romo Lampkin) will appear as enigmatic figure who represents the organization that controls the Warehouse. original Source

Friends - 10.20, The Last One (2) After 10 seasons of living, loving, losing and laughing with this gang, Friends came to a sad but perfect end. We got Ross's dramatic race to the airport, leaving him (and us) brokenhearted as he went home without Rachel, then finally the perfect reunion we'd dreamed of! Not everything can last forever, so while Rachel and Ross got together, Chandler and Monica went through with their move and Joey was heading for LA, but we were left knowing everyone was happy and would still see each other plenty in their fictional post-show lives. Arrested Development 3.13, Development Arrested After numerous hilarious and sadly unsuccessful blatant pleas to 'Save the Bluths,' Arrested gave in to its under-appreciated canceled fate. As usual, the finale featured all the Bluths spiraling out of control, but to truly epic series finale proportions! We got the mysteries of Maeby AND Lindsay's true identities solved, George Sr. out of prison, and a party squabble that ended with all the Bluths (and non-Bluths) getting a banana stand justice smackdown, a police boat chase, a final batch of huge mistakes, and maybe a (now confirmed!) movie. Battlestar Galactica - 4.20, Daybreak (2) This show's finale was not loved by all, but overall, I think the series was wrapped up well after all the drama, fighting, and death. It didn't bring a cheesy happy ending or a tragic one, but it brought enough of the characters a future on Earth, plus finally brought peace to them all. There was far too much religious influence, and my biggest disappointment was the lameness of the Starbuck conclusion, but I think all the characters minus Starbuck wrapped up just right from the sad but sweet ending for the President and Adama, and everyone else left getting to finally live happily... with the threat of repeating it all over again generations later... Gilmore Girls - 7.22, Bon Voyage I had expected this series finale to be a big cliffhanger since the cancellation wasn't for certain when the episode was filmed, but luckily it was expected enough that they did a wonderful job of giving us a satisfying ending. We were left with Luke and Lorelai finally happily together, Rory graduated with an excellent job lined up, and Rory not with a guy but with the possibility of love to come. Ah, just right! Dawson's Creek - 6.24, ...Must Come to an End No true fan can discuss this finale for too long without a few tears, but that is exactly why this was one of the greatest season finales. Not only was it perfectly tear-jerking (okay, they played us a little hard with the Jen dying storyline), but as we jumped into the future with the creek kids of Capeside, we saw everything was just right with Dawson reaching his dream of making a show, Joey a writer living happily with Pacey, and they all came together to see Jen in her final days. It was sad, but a perfect way to say goodbye to the characters, and to see that long-awaited love triangle conclusion that left everyone happy - isn't WB just the best?
Guest star James Callis ( Battlestar Galactica 's Dr. Gaius Baltar) plus a straggly wig and a dash of Charles Manson adds up to a very chilling episode of CBS' Numbers, as the hit CBS drama winds down its fifth season. The British actor offered a look inside the creation of the charismatic sociopath who dared to abduct Charlie's sweetheart, Amita. To Read More Click here .
From The Futon Critic: "FOX is giving viewers a holiday treat on Saturday, July 4. Network sources have confirmed to the site exclusively that the two-hour pilot to Virtuality will air on said night at 8:00/7:00c. Co-created by Michael Taylor and Ronald D. Moore ( Battlestar Galactica ), the sci-fi drama revolves around the crew of the Phaeton, Earth's first starship. To endure the 10-year journey, the astronauts use virtual reality modules which allow them to assume avatars and explore self-created scenarios. But just as the mission is about to enter its critical go/no-go phase, a virus begins to infect the system and puts all of their lives on the line. The show's ensemble cast includes Clea DuVall, Erik Jensen, Gene Farber, James D'Arcy, Jimmi Simpson, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Joy Bryant, Kerry Bishe, Nelson Lee, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omar Metwally, Richie Coster and Sienna Guillory. Peter Berg helmed the Universal Media Studios-based pilot and executive produced alongside Taylor, Moore, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Sarah Aubrey." And from SciFi Wire : "It's not clear if the show is being picked up as a series; the pilot was ordered revamped during production. Fox announces its fall lineup on May 18."
