TV ratings: CBS wins Friday with 'Blue Bloods,' 'Hawaii Five-0,' 'Undercover Boss' combo

Fast national ratings for Friday, December 13, 2014 Despite a valiant effort on the part of ABC's reality hit "Shark Tank," a brand-new episode of "Blue Bloods" helped snag the nightly win for CBS. The CW's "The Carrie Diaries" and "Nikita" were down even lower from last week's not-so-stellar numbers, while FOX's "Raising Hope" dipped ever-so-slightly. CBS pulled in an average 8.97 million viewers and a 5.7 rating/10 household share to win the night. ABC's "Shark Tank" success landed the alphabet network in second place, with 6.1 million viewers and a 3.9/7. NBC came in third with 5.25 million viewers and a 3.4/6. FOX trailed with 2.76 million viewers and a 1.7/3, while The CW lagged behind with 704,000 viewers (0.5/1). 'Blue Bloods' Len Cariou dinner scene trick: 'If you're really clever, you don't have to eat at all'

As long as the members of television's Reagan family gather to eat each week, Len Cariou always will know where his next meal is coming from.As patriarch and former New York police commissioner Henry Reagan, the stage and screen veteran is guaranteed his moment in every episode of the Friday CBS police drama "Blue Bloods." That's true even if Henry's relatives feed him in the hospital -- as happened one Thanksgiving -- and Cariou finds such scenes special for several reasons."We're usually done by lunch," he tells Zap2it. "Because of the kids, we film [those scenes] early. It's the biggest scene in any episode, so it usually takes the most time because you have to cover everybody film-wise. Everybody looks forward to it, though, because we have that time together every week."Cariou believes those scenes appeal to viewers because "they all did this at one time in their lives, sitting around the dinner table with... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/blue-bloods-len-cariou-dinner-scene-trick-if-youre-really-clever-you-dont-have-to-eat-at-all.html

'Blue Bloods' Season 4, Episode 9: Maria runs into very personal 'Bad Blood'

Thanksgiving is coming for the Reagan family, too -- but if their anticipation of the holiday wasn't tempered by crime concerns, it wouldn't be "Blue Bloods."Maria (Marisa Ramirez) had a particularly rough time with family matters in "Bad Blood," Friday's (Nov. 22) episode of the CBS police drama written by co-executive producer Daniel Truly and directed by Robert Harmon, who also has worked with series star Tom Selleck on all but one of the "Jesse Stone" TV movies.A murder investigation began for Maria and Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) outside a Spanish Harlem bar, but they soon went in to interrogate the very enthusiastic, soccer-watching patrons. They came up empty on suspects, until a security tape revealed someone Maria recognized (guest star Kirk Acevedo, "Oz") .Danny and Maria went to find the man, nicknamed "Tic-Tac" -- and while chasing him, Maria made a side run at him, sending him through a store's glass door. Surprised by her... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/blue-bloods-season-4-episode-9-maria-runs-into-very-personal-bad-blood.html

'Blue Bloods': Marisa Ramirez performs a sister act in 'Bad Blood'

If anything can propel a supporting player to a series' forefront, it's to give the character a problematic relative. Thus, Marisa Ramirez -- alias Detective Danny Reagan's (Donnie Wahlberg) NYPD partner Maria Baez on CBS' "Blue Bloods" -- gets considerable screen time in Friday's (Nov. 22) episode "Bad Blood." Kirk Acevedo ("Oz," "Fringe") guest stars as Baez's estranged brother "Tic-Tac," an ex-drug addict who's the prime suspect in a murder she and Danny probe."You finally get to learn a little bit of the backstory of Maria," Ramirez tells Zap2it, "at least between her and her brother. You also find out why she became a cop ... it had to do with him."Danny is still trying to support his partner, and when you have family involved in real life, you would be taken off the case. Because they're so close as partners, though, he wants her to be there for whatever she can do for her brother."Happy... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/blue-bloods-marisa-ramirez-performs-a-sister-act-in-bad-blood.html

TV ratings: 'Bones,' 'Raising Hope' drop in Friday premieres

Moving to Fridays was not good to the ratings of "Bones" and "Raising Hope" on FOX. Both shows dropped significantly from their most recent airings -- "Bones" on Monday (Nov. 11) and "Raising Hope" last spring in its season finale.Only the smallest bit of consolation for the FOX shows can be found in the fact that ABC suffered ratings losses for all of its programs, while CBS saw "Undercover Boss" drop."Blue Bloods" on CBS won the night in total viewers, with 7.3 million watching over the 10 p.m. hour. ABC's "Shark Tank" had the highest Friday ratings in the 18-49 target demo.CBS led the night overall with 6.1 million viewers and a 9.96 rating/11 share in households. ABC was next (4.0 million, 6.0/7), followed by NBC (3.2 million, 4.8/5) and FOX (2.3 million 3.7/4). The CW landed at the bottom of the night with 0.7 million viewers and a 1.0/1 share. 'Blue Bloods,' Season 4, episode 8: Frank, Danny and Jamie all try to see 'Justice Served'

Dining out can be dangerous. So Frank (Tom Selleck) discovered after having dinner with Angelo Gallo (guest star Chazz Palminteri) -- a boyhood friend who happened to be a Mob lawyer -- in Friday's (Nov. 15) "Blue Bloods" episode "Justice Served," written by series co-executive producer Siobhan Byrne O'Connor. The men left the restaurant jovially, but right after Frank's car pulled away, the attorney was felled by two bullets to the back.Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) was getting a taste of another side of the law by serving jury duty. Young defendant Deshawn Williams (J. Mallory-McCree) was on trial for the murder of a deli cashier, and when the jurors went into deliberation, only one held out for a "not guilty" verdict. Guess who?Eddie (Vanessa Ray) was excited about a date with commodities trader Jake (Jason Ralph), and when Jamie (Will Estes) playfully asked if he knew she was a cop, she said such information is "a real... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/blue-bloods-season-4-episode-8-frank-danny-and-jamie-all-try-to-see-justice-served.html
