HBO has unveiled some new trailers for the upcoming seasons of two of its original series. First up, the debut teaser trailer for Boardwalk Empire season four gives us our first look at the new character played by Jeffrey Wright, Valentin Narcisse. The character is described as “Doctor of Divinity, philanthropist, student of culture and the man who runs Harlem,” and it’s clear in this brief teaser that he may pose quite the threat to Steve Buscemi’s Nucky Thompson. Wright’s character is a series regular for the new season, so expect to see plenty of Narcisse when Boardwalk Empire returns this fall. READ MORE...
“Only kings understand each other,” Doctor Narcisse (Jeffrey Wright) tells Nucky (Steve Buscemi) in HBO’s first teaser for Boardwalk Empire season four. According to Deadline, Narcisse is the man who runs Harlem, and from the short teaser it’s also apparent that he’s going to be Nucky’s latest adversary. As he says, only kings understand each other, but they also understand there’s only room for one king at a time– hence the two men’s first meeting being intercut with a series of escalating violent confrontations. HitFix's Alan Sepinwall interviews "Boardwalk Empire" creator Terence Winter about the HBO gangster drama's just-completed third season. http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching/posts/boardwalk-empire-creator-terence-winter-talks-nucky-richard-chalky-and-more-from-season-3
The big question leading into tonight's "Boardwalk Empire" season finale was how Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) would manage to recover from the streak of bad luck and betrayal which has steadily encroached upon him all season. But after a finale filled with strategic maneuvers and an enormous body count, the lingering issue remaining for Season 4 is whether or not Nucky will stick to the "full gangster" mantra. Season 3 was more consistent than the last -- the writing was stronger, and it played out with fewer contemplative and slow episodes. And unlike last year, the finale wasn't packed with jaw-dropping revelations or unexpected deaths. Instead, "Margate Sands" played out as a tribute to Nucky Thompson's shrewd negotiating skills, and his ability to take back his city after losing nearly everything. *WARNING: Spoilers ahead* A Nucky-less Atlantic City is chaotic, and gang violence has the press and the public talking. How will Margaret handle her pregnancy? Will Gyp Rosetti survive? What is going on with Val Alden? Will Richard Harrow take on Gillian? Questions abound as we head into tonight's Boardwalk Empire Season 3 finale, which is titled "Margate Sands" and which will begin on New Year's Eve 1922. Look for Dean O'Banion to cause some problems for Al Capone, while Richard mentors Tommy in Atlantic City and Margaret tours a new hospital made possible by Nucky's fortune. Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) started out Season 3 of "Boardwalk Empire" in full gangster mode, but recent episodes have featured a weakened, threatened Thompson in hiding. Atlantic City's head honcho has almost completely run out of company, true to Jimmy Darmody's dying prophecy. Almost. Thompson is ending Season 3 staunchly determined to win back his town. With the help of Al Capone, Chalky White, and his brother Eli, Nucky is set to do battle with Gyp Rosetti -- and Sunday's episode is guaranteed to be a bloodbath. But there are quite a few remaining loose ends left to tie, and some big questions for the season finale: 1. Where is Margaret? Nucky knows about her affair with Owen (Charlie Cox), but audiences didn't see him confront Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) about it (nor did we see her subsequent departure with the children). Where is she? How will she handle her pregnancy now that Owen is dead?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/11/boardwalk-empire-5-big-questions-for-the-season-finale.html
