Keck's Exclusives: Mark Valley Nearing Body of Proof Deal

When Body of Proof returns to ABC this fall, it's going to look a lot more like Castle and Bones , and the proof is in the casting. Sources are telling me that Human Target , Fringe and Boston Legal hottie Mark Valley , fresh off his gig on NBC's cancelled Harry's Law , is in discussions to play Detective Tommy Sullivan, a new will-they-or-won't they sparing partner for series star Dana Delany 's Dr. Megan Hunt. Delany tells me Tommy "is this guy who broke my heart 20 years ago. He turns up on the police force in Philadelphia working with me."

'Body of Proof' Season 3: New characters join the detective team

"Body of Proof" fans successfully campaigned for ABC to renew the show for Season 3 -- but when it returns as a mid-season replacement at some point during the 2012-2013 television season, it's going to be a very different show. As previously reported, three of the "Body of Proof" lead actors have been ousted. John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn will not be returning for the third season, meaning that the majority of the detective power we're familiar with will be M.I.A. from the Philadelphia Homicide Division.Of course, Bud Morris, Peter Dunlop, and Samantha Baker will be replaced. "Body of Proof" bosses are casting two new series regulars for Season 3. The first is Detective Tommy Sullivan, a former NYPD detective who has a romantic history with Megan (Dana Delaney) -- twenty years ago, they broke up after she caught him cheating on her. Now he's back in her life, and looking to...

TV ratings: 'Glee' and 'The Voice' drop Tuesday as CBS leads the night

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, April 17, 2012"Glee's" disco-heavy episode took a ratings hit Tuesday, dropping three tenths of a point in adults 18-49 and about half a million viewers from last week. "The Voice" results show was also down for NBC.On the other side of the ledger, "The Biggest Loser" ticked up with its contestant-revolt episode. "Dancing With the Stars" also improved a little, but that didn't help the Tuesday debut of "Private Practice," which fell well short of the ratings for "Body of Proof" in the time period last week.CBS averaged 12.4 million viewers and a 7.9 rating/13 share in households to finish on top of the overall rankings. ABC (8.7 million, 5.8/9) came in second. NBC (6.7 million, 4.2/7) beat out FOX (5.4 million, 3.3/5) for third place. Jeri Ryan Hopes For 'Body Of Proof' Renewal

" Body of Proof " may be on the bubble, but star Jeri Ryan (and the rest of the cast) hopes that it will be renewed for a third season. "We're very much on the bubble," Ryan recently told HuffPost TV. "For our last two episodes [March 27, April 3] we've had great overall numbers. Our overall viewers are higher than most of the shows I've ever dealt with, and higher than most of the shows that are considered hits." Indeed, viewership for "Body of Proof" has risen to its highest levels since the beginning of the season. Its placement immediately following the " Dancing with the Stars " results show has certainly helped. For the past two weeks, ABC has secured the No. 1 position for the solid two-hour block from 9-11 p.m. Ryan still has her fears, though, since the networks don't necessarily look at overall viewer numbers when considering renewal. "Our demographic numbers, which are the only things advertisers care about, are low," says Ryan. "So, something like ' New Girl ' gets double or triple our demographic numbers, but we get double their overall viewers. But that's a hit, yet we're on the bubble. It's hard! It's such an archaic system!" "Body Of Proof" also towered over its timeslot competitor, " Fashion Star ," by 6 million viewers . Ryan believes it's unfair to judge a show's future based on viewer numbers alone, however. "So much of the viewership now is not watching it live. They're watching on DVR and skimming through all the ads, so it's too bad we're sticking to the old advertising model," she says. "Somewhere down the line, things will have to change, but I guess for now it is what it is. We're all hoping." The season two finale of "Body Of Proof" airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
