Carl Sack reluctantly helps Andrea who is suing a company that claims to turn loved ones' ashes into jewelry, but gave Andrea a cubic zirconium instead of her mother. Whitney tries hard to win a hearing when a young girl dies because her high school pushed her too hard to succeed. Katie begins to fall for a client who was dying of AIDS but is still alive thanks to a new drug treatment, and Clarence helps a woman sue her pastor for falling in love with her. Meanwhile, Alan and Denny flounder during their Coast Guard training.
