Jackie Evancho brings the 'Britain's Got Talent' house down, plus a surprise winner

We said it the last time Jackie Evancho performed publicly, at Oprah Winfrey's farewell: It's hard to fathom such a big (and polished) voice coming from such a small girl. We'll say it again after watching the 11-year-old sing on Saturday's (June 4) finale of "Britain's Got Talent": She's unbelievable.Jackie, the runner-up on "America's Got Talent" last year, sang what's become her signature, "Nessun Dorma," on Saturday's "BGT" finale. Embedding is disabled, but you can watch her here. The show ended with a surprise winner, as 24-year-old singer Jai McDowall beat out favorite Ronan Parke by a slim margin (2.5 percentage points). The 12-year-old Ronan was the subject of rumors this week that he'd been groomed by "BGT" creator Simon Cowell before coming on the show. Both have vehemently denied the rumors, and Cowell is exploring legal action.Ronan probably doesn't need to worry too much about the loss, though. Finishing second seems to have worked out pretty... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/06/jackie-evancho-brings-the-britains-got-talent-house-down-plus-a-surprise-winner.html

Simon Cowell fights rumors of 'Britain's Got Talent' fix: 'Complete and utter lies'

Simon Cowell took to the air Friday night (June 3) to denounce a report that he has manipulated the results of "Britain's Got Talent."An anonymous blog post (since taken down) this week claimed that Cowell secretly had 12-year-old "Britain's Got Talent" finalist Ronan Parke under contract for two years, groomed him for his "BGT" debut this season, then fixed the competition so Parke would win. The writer claimed to be an executive at Sony BMG Music, which has a long-standing relationship with Cowell, and posted his or her claims on a Polish site called JustPaste.it.Lawyers for Cowell and his company, Syco (which produces "Britain's Got Talent"), have been attempting to track the writer down and have asked London police to investigate the writer for the crime of "malicious communication." On Friday's edition of "Britain's Got Talent," Cowell addressed the rumors. Here's what he said, according to the Daily Mail:"There have been allegations made in the... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/06/simon-cowell-fights-rumors-of-britains-got-talent-fix-complete-and-utter-lies.html

David Hasselhoff continues run of very bad luck, could lose 'Britain's Got Talent' gig

The last year has not been kind to David Hasselhoff. After losing his "America's Got Talent" job to Howie Mandel, being the first cut on Season 11 of "Dancing With the Stars" and having his own reality show canceled one day after the premiere, the 58-year-old actor and singer is apparently on thin ice at his new gig. The Daily Mail reports Hasselhoff will be released from his judging duties on the UK iteration of his former show, "Britain's Got Talent," after just one season. Pointing to a sharp drop in ratings (the show was down 1 million from the premiere), Hasselhoff's apparent inability to understand regional accents and the fact that he's confused Scotland and Ireland. Way to represent the U.S., Hoff. The show that introduced the world to Susan Boyle has had a tough adjustment period for its latest run. Following the departures of judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan -- both of... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/david-hasselhoff-continues-run-of-very-bad-luck-could-lose-britains-got-talent-gig.html

'Britain's Got Talent' First Stand-Out: Michael Collings

" Britain's Got Talent " has found 19-year-old IT engineer Michael Collings. The fifth series was kicked off on Saturday, April 16 with a few great talents such as Collings who amazed the judges with his rendition of   Tracy Chapman 's "Fast Car".   Two factors backed up the popularity of Collings.
