Michael Westen is a spy working for the U.S. Government who unexpectedly gets "burned" while on assignment in Nigeria; he just barely gets out alive and finds himself stuck in Miami. There Michael finds himself cut off from his contacts and his cash, so he agrees to help a man clear his name in a high-priced art theft. Along the way he gets help from his ex-girlfriend and a retired covert operative, and grief from his mother, who is unaware of the details of his career.
