Casting Update: New Female Captain Will Be Older

Originally, Castle producers were looking for a female captain replacement in her “early 40s,” but according to Spoiler TV, the role now calls for a female in her “late 40s/early 50s.” Yup, the ideal captain is apparently now 10 years older!We don’t know why the change came about, but we do think it’s interesting since the new captain is supposedly super flirty. Castle Confirmed for Comic-Con 2011!

As we recently speculated, a Castle panel will officially be a part of this years Comic-Con in San Diego on July 21! Joined by stars from fellow Wetpaint show The Vampire Diaries, the Castle crew will be back at the convention for the second time. Castle Season 4 Spoilers: More Info About New Captain

Last week we got the first piece of information about the upcoming fourth season of  Castle . Since Captain Montgomery sacrificed himself in the season 3 finale ir order to save Detective Beckett, we knew that someone would eventually replace him. We already know that  someone is going to be a woman , which has pretty much divided the fandom between those that hated it and those who absolutely loved it. Personally, I think the fact that the new Captain is a woman just brings a whole new layer to the show and endless possibilities for the relationships between characters. Now we got a few more details on this new character: she views the captain’s chair as a way to climb up the ladder to a more important position within the NYPD.  She also has a reputation for being a bit of a hard-ass to her co-workers, but she also has a fun and flirtatious side. Who Should Play the New Captain on Castle?

Like our Round Table panelists, many Castle fans are still processing the shocking events on May's season finale. But, instead of looking back, ABC is giving viewers a reason to glance ahead: the show will bring on a new police captain this fall, a woman the network describes as "ambitious, good-looking, career-minded" and "more adept at politics than police work." Will she allow Castle the sort of access to cases to which he's grown accustomed? We'll leave that question for another time.

TNT to Air Reruns of Castle

Castle is coming to TNT. The cable network has acquired the rights to the ABC series and will begin airing on TNT in the summer of 2012. “With the addition of Castle , TNT continues to build a collection of hit shows that will perfectly complement our high-profile original series,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
