Yahoo Lost $42 Million on Community and Its Two Other Original Series

  Original TV content isn't looking profitable over at Yahoo, which released an overall weak third quarter earnings report Tuesday. The tech giant's CFO Ken Goldman told reporters over the phone that the company's video division specifically took a huge (read: $42 million) hit namely thanks to such under-performing series as Community , Sin City Saints , and Other Space , all of which have officially been written off and deemed poor investments. This is bad news particularly for Community fans, as it further supports the line of thinking that the show's on its way out. The property had been revived for a sixth season at Yahoo after NBC axed it, but star Joel McHale has said a second season at its new home is unlikely because of the cast's rising star power. Joel McHale Confirms That Season 6 of Community Was Its Last (For Real)

  In an interview with Metro Weekly , Joel McHale confirmed what we already long suspected: The most recent season of Community on Yahoo, the show's sixth, was its last. McHale says that while Yahoo wanted another season, it couldn't afford the actors. "All of our contracts were up after six years. All the actors on the show, almost without exception their stock has risen significantly and its out of the pay rate that is affordable to make the show. So youre not going to be able to get Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs at a normal television salary anymore. There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show."   Read More...

From a claymation christmas special to an ACTUAL zombie episode with an ABBA soundtrack, Community easily breaks away from the cookie-cutter sitcom mold. .       If you want to cry:   Orange is the New Black See all reviews for Orange is the New Black A show that takes tremendous strides in the perspectives of its female characters, each coming with tragic backstory of how they ended up at Litchfield Prison. As silly as the prison antics may appear to be, they hold a lot of meaning and sentiment to the characters. You’ll find yourself laughing one minute and crying the next in this unpredictable and likable dramedy. Try to avoid bingeing all of the seasons in one sitting!       If you want to scream:   The Fall See all reviews for  The Fall Following serial killer Paul Spector ( 50 Shades of Grey ’s Jamie Dornan) and the detective trying to catch him ( The X-Files ’ Gillian Anderson), The Fall is not just thought-provoking but disturbing on many levels. Deeply analyzing human psychology and morality on topics in regards to feminism and portrayals of women in society, The Fall makes for really good television. Just try not falling too hard for Jamie Dornan.       If you want to think:   Doctor Who See all reviews for  Doctor Who Giving you a whole new Doctor and companion to love every couple of seasons, Doctor Who takes you on a journey across wibbly-wobbly space-time and to the ends of the universe.
