Top Moments: The Walking Dead's Big Bang and Community Gets Lost

Our top TV moments of the week: 12. Heaviest Joke: What is it about Levi Johnston that makes all the ladies crazy? Kathy Griffin, who famously had a faux relationship with the Thrilla from Wasilla, pokes fun at Bristol Palin, who had a child with Johnston, while hosting VH1 Divas Salute the Troops. The acerbic comic quips that Palin is the only person in the history of Dancing with the Stars to gain weight on the show. "She gained, like, 30 pounds a week. I swear to God; it was fantastic — she's like the white Precious," Griffin snarks, drawing boos from the crowd of soldiers. All appears to be forgiven, though, when the 50-year-old comedienne shows off her rock-hard bod in a camo-bikini later in the program. 11. Words to Live By Award: In a rare moment of earnestness, self-deprecator extraordinaire David Hasselhoff gets serious on The Hasselhoffs when a student at his daughter's school brings up the "hamburger incident." Rather than brush it off or crack a joke, the actor admits that it wasn't his best moment and shares these pearls of wisdom for tomorrow's youth: "Sometimes life gives you a wake-up call. It's how fast you get up, not how hard you fall." 10. Most Misplaced Aggression: This season of Gossip Girl has been a (sometimes misguided) cat-and-mouse game between Juliet and Serena. So it's a surprise to learn that Juliet's actual target is Lily, who won't be winning any Mom of the Year awards for putting an innocent man behind bars. To Read More Click Here.

The Making of Community's Animated Holiday Episode

Community's December 9 animated Christmas episode, in which Abed (Danny Pudi) learns the meaning of Christmas (and which featured a shout-out to TV Guide Magazine!), is a holiday miracle in itself. As overseen by 23D Films owners James Fino (who previously worked on King of the Hill) and Joe Russo (The Simpsons), the stop-motion animation was completed in four months, less than half the time it takes to produce an episode of The Simpsons. "We needed every ounce of that time," Fino says. "It couldn't be whipped off. We had to be at the top of our games." Animators from the movies Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas also contributed their talents. To Read More Click Here.

Community Sneak Peeks: Stop-Motion Holiday Episode

Community Cast Speculates on Show's Direction

NBC's Community can often be seen more as a romp through a postmodern funhouse than a standard-issue sitcom. The series has offered inspired parodies of action flicks, zombie movies, GoodFellas and Apollo 13 and featured a bizarre mash-up of Mean Girls and Robocop. More recently, it exploded the notion of the "bottle episode," TV-industry jargon for shows shot with limited budgets on existing sets with a limited number of cast members to compensate for more costly episodes. This week, it's serving up an animated parody of the old, cheesy Rankin-Bass holiday cartoons (airing Thursday at 8/7c). All of this meta-posturing led us to a theory that wouldn't be out of place alongside the rafts of speculation that came from Lost fans: That the characters in Community are real people who are slowly coming to the realization that they are trapped inside a TV sitcom, not dissimilar to the circumstances confronting the characters of the Jean Paul Sartre play No Exit. First Look: Malcolm-Jamal Warner Comes Home to NBC

Community fans have long understood that Shirley's ex-husband, Andre, is a womanizing jerk. So what to make of the fact that he's actually a friendly guy — and played by the actor who portrayed lovable Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show? Malcolm-Jamal Warner joins the NBC comedy January 20 for a three-episode arc in which Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) and Andre are dating again — and Shirley informs the gang she's pregnant, though Troy (Donald Glover) realizes the baby may not be Andre's. "You've heard all these awful things Andre's done, and then you meet him and it's Bill Cosby's son!" says Glover. Brown agrees that Warner "comes with such inherent goodwill. Just his face rehabilitates Andre immediately." To Read More Click Here.
