The second season of NBC's under-the-radar sitcom may not be making a Big Bang in the ratings, but you can't deny it's explosively funny. The show has perfected the formula of well-chosen guest stars (Daily Show vets Rob Corddry and John Oliver, alt-comedy god Patton Oswalt, and, yes, Betty White, who's better in small doses like this week's cameo); snappy, pop-reference-rich dialogue; physical shtick from the masterful likes of Chevy Chase and Ken Jeong; and unexpected moments of M*A*S*H/Scrubs-esque sincerity. This week's episode, "The Psychology of Letting Go," worked in meaningful ruminations on life, death and religion as Chase's Pierce refused to accept his mom's demise, sparking a debate among his study-group pals, including card-carrying skeptic Jeff (Joel McHale) and deeply devout Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown). Just when the show threatens to get too serious, like with a subplot about raising money for victims of the Gulf spill, an oil-wrestling match breaks out between Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Annie (Alison Brie). And next week's episode, an ambitious spoof of Apollo 13, promises to be out-of-this-world. Source Here

Community's Season 1 paintball episode - a parody of action-flick cliches - wasn't just loved by fans. "It remains the favorite among everyone here," says Alison Brie (Annie). So it's inevitable that the show wants to top itself, and they'll try with the October 14 episode, a spoof of Apollo 13. Jeff (Joel McHale) and his study-group pals participate in a flight-simulation competition with another local college; the gang gets stranded on board when the shuttle is towed from the school parking lot. This is no ordinary flight simulator: The Kentucky Fried Chicken SpaceBus - dubbed the "Herbs and Space Experience" - may be the oddest piece of product placement ever to appear on TV. "It's a tour de force of information about KFC, working to make the most delicious galaxy," McHale says. More parodies are on the way: The Christmas episode will feature cheesy animation; the Halloween show sends up slasher films. "I hope no one dies, but I'm ready to bleed," says Danny Pudi (Abed). But all agree the show will always favor characters over pop-culture gags. Promises Brie, "We're never going to drift too far into outer space." Source Here
There are many reasons to look forward to Community every week. The clever writing, meta references, and fantastic ensemble cast, will always leave you craving for more. But if there is one thing that separates Community from other like sitcoms, it is the show's brilliant use of pop culture homages. Sure 30 Rock does it every now and then, and Glee is heading in that direction, but after only 26 episodes, Community has it down to a science. So far we have seen the show pay respect to: action movies, buddy cop comedies, super hero movies, John Hughes movies, frat movies, disaster movies, and (my favorite) mobster movies. This November Community is staging another all-out homage. For sweeps season, the show is planning an episode that spoofs the high school movie modern classic, Mean Girls. To make the episode even sweeter, Community has tapped Hillary Duff to play the leader of the plastics. Details are still slim but I'm sure we can expect a showdown between the Duffster and the study group girls. To Read More Click here .

This week, TV had a case of mistaken identity. On Law & Order: SVU, Joan Cusack played a grieving mother who of course also appeared to be the suspect. Cougar Town's Jules found a new therapist with serious truth issues. Olivia's evil twin made a pass at her unrequited love on Fringe. Sesame Street forgot that Katy Perry is a scantily clad pop star. Joaquin Phoenix revealed that he is, in fact, an actor and not the subject of a documentary. And the cranky doc on House let it slip that he's actually a big old softie. Welcome to Top Moments: Mistaken Identity Edition. 15. Best Breakfast: While staying at Don's apartment after running away from home, Mad Men's Sally tries to get in her dad's good graces by making him French toast. Don is impressed, until he realizes that the "Mrs. Butterworth's" she poured over the plate is actually rum. Then he's even more impressed. 14. Best Twist: On the season-opener of Law & Order: SVU, Joan Cusack plays a woman whose child went missing 10 years prior. Cusack's creepy performance is a textbook SVU "the mom did it" gambit, but in a surprising twist, her daughter is found alive and living as the wife of her kidnapper. To Read More Click Here .
