'Community' video: 5 seasons of movie references in one video

"Community" references a lot of movies. From "Pulp Fiction" to "My Dinner with Andre," the films mentioned on the show run the gamut of years and styles -- sometimes in the same episode. In honor of this eclectic mix of movie love, a truly passionate fan -- Anne Thomas -- of the show has made a super-cut of all "Community" movie shout-outs from the series. The password? It's "movietime."The question is: Did any movies get missed? The only one we caught was "For a Few Dollars More," the sequel to "A Fistful of Dollars" -- the inspirations for the second iteration of paintball on "Community."Leave any other omissions in the comments section below!"Community" Season 5 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/community-video-five-seasons-of-movie-references-in-one-video.html

'Community' Season 5 finale: 5 things to know about 'Basic Story'

The first part of the "Community" Season 5 finale, "Basic Story," is coming all too soon to NBC. What strangeness will come along with that finale? Keep reading for five spoilers to keep you guessing. When it becomes evident that the Save Greendale Committee has done its job all too well, everything seems set for pure contentment. But then it turns out that by saving Greendale, the Committee may have actually destroyed their (semi-)beloved school. RELATED: Six seasons and a movie for "Community"? It might happen. Here is what we can tell you about the episode:1. One scene focuses very closely on a man slurping soup.2. The city of Greendale defines a dog as an animal with four legs and a tail. Somehow, this is related to an important development in the story.3. Two of the characters make a big and surprising decision. It involves olive oil, but not in the way you would expect (if... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/community-season-5-finale-5-things-to-know-about-basic-story.html

'Community' Season 5 video: '80s cartoon PSA from 'G.I. Jeff'

"Community" Season 5 has a treat for former 1980s cartoon watchers: In the upcoming "G.I. Jeff" episode, the characters become G.I. Joe characters and even includes a PSA at the end. Watch the ridiculous video here. For this PSA, Britta (as "Buzz Kill") and Abed (as "Fourth Wall") teach a couple of kids about the evils of graffiti. Sort of. In case you're not familiar with this particular form of "educational" television, many cartoons in the 1980s and 1990s -- including "G.I. Joe" -- ended their episodes with brief skits like this. Characters from the stories would step out of their world to tell normal kids about what was right and good in this world. Some of them were almost as funny as this "Community" video. For example, one time the "Thundercats" warned a couple of youngsters that sheltering from a thunderstorm under a tall tree was a bad idea. The more you know can... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/community-season-5-video-80s-cartoon-psa-from-gi-jeff.html

'Community': Six seasons and a movie reportedly being discussed

"Community" has been shouting about "six seasons and a movie" ever since the phrase appeared as a throwaway line in Season 2. Three years and several surprising renewals later, everyone from creator Dan Harmon to production company Sony is speaking of Season 6 and a follow-up movie.Could "Community" Season 5 just be a lead-up to greater things?Harmon certainly thinks so. In a recent interview with HitFix, Harmon makes it clear that he's all-in when it comes to more "Community.""If they do a sixth season, I have to participate," Harmon says. "And having done that, if the movie has to be made out of clay and duct tape in my basement, then that's how the movie will be made, because there has to be closure. The title of the book about the show is not 'Community, An Interesting Journey into a Show No One Ever Watched.' The title of the book is obviously going to... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/community-six-seasons-and-a-movie-reportedly-being-discussed.html

As Community Contemplates a Season 6 Renewal, Talk of a Movie Grows

Will "six seasons and a movie" come to fruition? As NBC mulls the fate of the Greendale gang, the Community clarion call — first uttered as a joke by Abed ( Danny Pudi ) in a Season 2 episode — may be moving closer to reality. 'Community' Season 5, episode 11 gets animated for 'G.I. Jeff'

"Community" is no stranger to animation. Prior to Season 5's "G.I. Jeff" (airing Thursday, April 3), the bizarre comedy had already aired two mainly animated episodes: "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas" (stop-motion) and "Digital Estate Planning" (8-bit computer graphics). For the Season 5 version of animation, however, episode 11 is taking the "G.I. Joe" route in tribute to the 1980s animated series. What's going on here? "This [episode] has a very specific story reason for it," executive producer Chris McKenna tells EW.com. "I don't want to give too much away, but our characters find themselves in a 'Wizard of Oz'-type journey through the world of 'G.I. Joe' ... There's a mystery that Jeff in particular has to get to the bottom of."Considering that Jeff Winger would have been about the right age to enjoy "G.I. Joe" cartoons back in the day, that does make sense.Exactly how much "G.I. Joe" will make it into "G.I. Jeff"? "We do a typical... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/community-season-5-episode-11-gets-animated-for-gi-jeff.html
