Dan Harmon Determined to Deliver on Six Seasons and a Movie Community Promise

The cast and crew of Community were on hand at SDCC this week, minus Chevy Chase who quit, Joel McHale who appeared in a video message, and Donald Glover who is only appearing in a fraction of the episodes in season five to focus on his rap career. Dan Harmon, newly returned to the show after being booted by NBC for season four, is determined to make sure the show doesn't just limp along for 13 episodes this season. He actually wants to make it to season six. “Nobody wants to not fail more than me,” Harmon said, “I don’t consider these the last 13. I will do everything I can to get us the sixth season.” READ MORE...

Comic-Con 2013: 'Community' panel, featuring Iron Man and many laughs

"Community" took over Hall H on the last day of the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, and the results were entertaining -- to say the least. From the moment Dan Harmon made his triumphant return to the NSFW questions posed by Dino Stamatopoulos to the final applause, every bit of the "Community" panel is worth a watch. Now you can watch it from the comfort of your own home -- no overnight lines necessary.Certainly one of the major highlights of the entire event comes right at the beginning when Harmon "flies" onto the stage wearing what appears to be a rather accurate Iron Man costume. Could anything say triumphant better? The rest of the panel is pretty entertaining as well. With comedy like this, could six seasons and a movie be so far-fetched?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/07/comic-con-2013-community-panel-featuring-iron-man-and-many-laughs.html

'Community' creator Dan Harmon on Donald Glover's departure

Despite the show's many ups and downs, "Community" fans were shocked to learn that Donald Glover was leaving the show after only five episodes of Season 5. Creator and newly reinstated showrunner Dan Harmon seems to have been fairly shocked as well, based on his response when asked about the loss of Troy. What does the always verbose Harmon have to say about Glover's departure? The information about Harmon's feelings on the matter comes from an interview the writer/producer gave with TVLine during the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con. Among other aspects of Season 5, the issue of Glover's departure came up.Dan Harmon seemed mostly sad but supportive about the whole situation."Eh, what did he ever do? He just says his funny lines," Harmon joked before adding: "No, it's devastating. It's heart-wrenching." That's not to say that the writer is bitter about one of his popular "Community" characters jumping ship halfway through Season 5. Community Season 5 Panel [Comic-Con 2013]

Although NBC’s Community hasn’t found its ratings niche like the network would like, fandom is one of the reasons the show still exists today. With a truly hilarious cast and great writing, Community has become a cult-hit and is luckily still alive. Although Season 5 is still without a release date, the study group (or part of it) hit Comic-Con to thank fans and tease next season. No footage for next year was released, but a gag reel and a funny panel consisting of Dan Harmon (creator), Chris McKenna (writer), Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong, Danny Pudi, and Gillian Jacobs made it worth it, even if Joel McHale and Donald Glover weren’t there.
