Dan Harmon apologizes for 'Community' rant, rape joke

As has become customary, Dan Harmon followed up his weekend rant with a weekday apology. This time, the focus of the apology is on Harmon's criticism of "Community" Season 4 and the writer's use of offensive humor -- including a rape joke -- in the process.Fortunately for all, Dan Harmon's apologies are pretty much as entertaining as the original rants that inspired them.During his "Harmontown" podcast on Sunday (June 16), the "Community" creator spent an extended period of time discussing Season 4 of his show. Harmon had been fired by the show's producer, Sony, at the end of Season 3, leaving Season 4 in the hands of other showrunners. Recently hired back for the show's surprising fifth season, Harmon only just watched his missed year shortly before the podcast.Harmon was not impressed. He said so. While the man's complaints were supremely entertaining, some fans were -- justifiably -- offended by Harmon's dismissal of a... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/06/dan-harmon-apologizes-for-community-rant-rape-joke.html

'Community' Season 5: NBC and Sony confirm Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna returning

More than a week after rumors and tweets broke the news that Dan Harmon would be returning to "Community" for Season 5, NBC and Sony Pictures Television have officially confirmed that both Harmon and writer/producer Chris McKenna would be back. The timing is good too. According to Dan Harmon, the writing of Season 5 was ready to begin.NBC's announcement came via a very brief press release on Monday (June 10). Harmon will be taking back the job of executive producer and showrunner for the show he created, while McKenna will be an executive producer. Harmon's reinstated position indicates that Season 4's showrunners, Moses Port and David Guarascio, may not be returning.Although the fifth season of "Community" and its showrunner are now set,... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/06/community-season-5-nbc-and-sony-confirm-dan-harmon-and-chris-mckenna-returning.html

'Community': Dan Harmon hasn't watched Season 4, starts Season 5 Monday

It's hard to fault Dan Harmon for not watching "Community" Season 4. After all, the writer and producer had just been fired from the show he created and ran for three years. Watching the results of someone else's labor would be difficult. But now that Harmon is set to return for "Community" Season 5, he probably should check out the past season's episodes.Unfortunately, he hasn't done that yet.Speaking to E!Online at the ATX festival in Austin, Texas, Harmon explained that he had a plan to fix this problem. "I am going to watch [Season 4] I think when I get back on Sunday. I'm just going to sit by myself, pop some popcorn and watch it." Since work on "Community" Season 5 is expected to begin on Monday (June 10), Harmon will hopefully have enough time in his marathon.Fans will most likely be split on how Harmon should treat Season 4. Under the showrunning of... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/06/community-dan-harmon-hasnt-watched-season-4-starts-season-5-monday.html

Dan Harmon confirms his Community return! The show's creator, who parted ways with the cult comedy last year after three seasons, took to Twitter to put all the rumors to rest and confirm that he will indeed be making his way back to Greendale. A fan on Twitter begged him for a straight answer, to which Harmon replied "Yes yes yes! I'm back I'm back I'm back. You can thank Joel McHale." 'Community' creator Dan Harmon asked to return for Season 5

Be still our hearts! "Community" creator Dan Harmon, who was ousted last season in a controversial move by Sony and NBC, has been asked to return to the series as showrunner in Season 5.According to reports, during a taping of his Harmontown podcast, Harmon confirmed that he had been asked to return -- but he asked that the news be cut out of the final podcast. Then, apparently, he said "Ah, f*** it. I don't care who knows!" and joked that he'd only return if mercurial cast member Chevy Chase also returned. As far as we know, a showrunner being fired from his own creation and then later asked to return has never happened before. However, it became quite obvious during Season 4 that despite his often odd behavior, Harmon was the heart and soul of the show. Chase, however, will not be returning.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/community-creator-dan-harmon-asked-to-return-for-season-5.html
