Now that Damages is Emmy-award winning (yay Glenn Close and Zeljko Ivanek), I'm hoping that more people will recognize how awesome it is. FX has officially set a premiere date and time for Season 2: January 7th at 10PM. There's also a first trailer for it, which you can watch here , but don't watch if you haven't seen the first season yet (and are planning on it)! Also, the trailer isn't necessarily reflective of the tone and style of the series, but perhaps they're just trying to rope in new viewers, which I guess I'm ok with. FX's thriller-mystery series Damages , starring Glenn Close, was one of the best entertainment-related things to come out of 2007, period. It's dark, edgy, and so well written, it succeeded in becoming another one of FX's shows (along with Nip/Tuck and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ) that brings the cable channel into a whole different league. These shows have way more in common with stuff you'd see on HBO or Showtime than say, USA. In fact, as Broadcasting & Cable points out, " Damages , along with AMC's Mad Men , became the first basic-cable drama series ever nominated in the Golden Globes Outstanding Series category." And the nominees are in! Many of the usual suspects made the cut for the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards that were announced Thursday morning, but freshmen dramas Mad Men and Damages earned nods in the Outstanding Drama Series category, making them the first basic cable series to be recognized by Emmy. The stars of each series, Jon Hamm and Glenn Close, each also received nominations in the Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Drama Series categories respectively. It's a bone, but we'll take it. With the premiere of Damages ' second season still months upon months away, FX is offering up a marathon of the entire 13-episode first season, on Saturday, Aug. 9, starting at 7 am/ET. Damages , which currently is slated for an "early 2009" return, grabbed a bevy of Emmy nods a few weeks back, including a drama series nod, a best actress nom for Glenn Close, and a pair of supporting actor bids (for Ted Danson and Zeljko Ivanek). Damages already had a top-notch cast, with Glenn Close, Ted Danson and Rose Byrne to name a few, and this season the show is getting quite a few impressive additions: It had already been announced that Timothy Olyphant and William Hurt were joining the cast as regulars this season and we now know that Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden is also signing on as a high-powered attorney that gives Glenn Close's character some trouble. Can't wait for this show to return! Source: TV Guide
