Is the Rivalry Between Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy on 'Dancing With the Stars' Real?

Forget about rivalries between celebrities on this season of 'Dancing With the Stars' -- there's definitely a sense of competition between Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his kid brother Val , who's one of the show's new pro dancers. Val showed that the gloves (or rather the shirts) are off when he made his entrance on last night's premiere by descending the stairs bare-chested. Prior to dancing the jive with his celebrity partner, model/TV host Elisabetta Canalis , Val said that he'd given his brother ten seasons to win the mirrorball trophy, but that since he hasn't taken it home, well, Val was just going to have to do it himself. (Ouch!) Is this just some brotherly banter to rile up the audience or is Val trying to dethrone Maks as the "bad boy of the ballroom?"

'DWTS' Backstage Report: Who's Going Home First? Also, Julianne Hough is Returning!

It's difficult to predict just who's going to be eliminated on tonight's results show of 'Dancing With the Stars.' The scores ranged from 14 for pro basketball player Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) to 22 each for singer Chynna Phillips and 'All My Children' actor J.R. Martinez . Since Artest's pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd, is also new to the show it's not like she's bringing in a lot of votes. Still, pro athletes have always done well on 'DWTS.' How did the stars and pro dancers think they did? AOL TV was on the post-show press line to get reactions.

'Dancing With the Stars': Kristin Cavallari looks comfortable on the dance floor

It's early yet, but we're going to say Kristin Cavallari will give her former "Hills" castmate Audrina Patridge a run for her money on "Dancing With the Stars."Cavallari and partner Mark Ballas drew the cha-cha-cha for their first dance of the season, and while her scores weren't quite at the top, she put in a pretty solid performance. The judges praised her natural movement and gave her a 19 -- the same score Audrina got for her first performance last fall.Audrina lasted until the sixth week last fall, but judging by Cavallari's opening effort and those of some of her fellow performers, we'd bet Kristin will last at least that long.Take a look at Kristin's performance below. What do you think?...

'Dancing With the Stars': Chaz Bono shrugs off controversy, has fun

No contestant on this season of "Dancing With the Stars" has attracted more attention -- or controversy -- than Chaz Bono, the first transgender contestant the show has ever had.The show reportedly beefed up security in the wake of some of the vitriol directed at him. But on the show Monday night (Sept. 19), Bono didn't seem to be letting any of that bother him.Bono didn't snag the highest score of the evening -- the 17 for his cha-cha-cha with Lacey Schwimmer put him in the middle of the pack. But he certainly enjoyed himself, and the judges were happy (and, possibly, a tiny bit surprised) with his ebullient attitude. Our gut feeling is that Bono will be back next week. How do you rate the performance?...

'Dancing With the Stars': Ron Artest/Metta World Peace kicks off Season 13

If Ron Artest -- or Metta World Peace, as he's now legally known -- gets nothing else out of "Dancing With the Stars," he'll at least probably stay fit for whenever the post-lockout NBA season resumes. As for the actual dancing? The L.A. Lakers forward didn't get off to the greatest start.Artest -- the show is referring to him by his former name, so for convenience's sake we will too -- teamed up with new pro Peta Murgatroyd for a cha-cha-cha, and while judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli praised his stage presence, neither they nor Len Goodman thought much of the technical part of the dance. The result was a 14 -- which apparently didn't include any bonus points for having "World Peace" in Hebrew dyed into his newly blond hair. What did you think of the performance?...

Thursday, Kit Hoover caught up with Bono in the thick of another dance rehearsal, and his moves are catching on there, too. "We are obsessed with this," Hoover told Bono and his dance partner, Lacey Schwimmer, showing them the rehearsal tape. "We call it 'The Chaz Hands.' Now I'm no coach, I don't know these things, but if you can bring what we saw in that video -- it's infectious, it's fun."
