Dancing With the Stars: "I Ran Into a Buzz Saw," Says Martina Navratilova

In the end, even her fabulous tennis footwork — and having the likes of Chris Evert and Jimmy Connors cheering her on — couldn't save her. Tennis legend Martina Navratilova had to endure the worst kind of Dancing With The Stars rejection: Being voted off first. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Dancing-Stars-Martina-1045376.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'Dancing With the Stars': Martina Navratilova on what she'll miss and who she thinks will win

Martina Navratilova was the first contestant eliminated from "Dancing With the Stars" and Zap2it got a chance to speak with her backstage at the show. She and partner Tony Dovolani were sad to go, and the other contestants has incredibly kind things to say about her. Particularly Jack Wagner, who told us that he was thrilled to find out that Navratilova was a fellow theater lover and that he and Dovolani had a love of golf in common.Navratilova says she's disappointed that she didn't get to share her personal story in next week's show. "I just wanted to get to week three so I could show my year 2010, which is a big struggle year for me. To encourage women to get screened for breast cancer, because that's what I got. Now I don't get to tell my story. That's how it goes."She missed some steps in her dance and she talks about what went... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/dancing-with-the-stars-martina-navratilova-on-what-shell-miss-and-who-she-thinks-will-win.html

'Dancing With the Stars' elimination: Martina Navratilova, Gavin DeGraw, or Roshon Fegan?

It's never easy to see a "Dancing With the Stars" hopeful get the boot in the very first elimination round of the season, but the mood for Tuesday's episode was brightened a bit by an appearance from Matt Nathanson, who performed his new single "Run" with Jennifer Nettles. Tristan and Peta did a contemporary routine choreographed to the uber-sexy power ballad. And then came the tough part. The bottom three came down to Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani, Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff, or Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower. After a few harrowing moments, it was revealed that Roshon and Chelsie were safe.Ultimately, Martina and Tony got the boot -- so Gavin and Karina (who won last season!) have some time to improve and hopefully stick around past next week.Do you think the fans voted correctly? 'Dancing With the Stars': William Levy is the 'Harry Connick Jr.,' 'The Artist' in the ballroom

Latin telenovela star William Levy turned in another wonderful performance on "Dancing With the Stars," though ballroom dancing is definitely not as strong for him as Latin dancing. But still, he and partner Cheryl Burke lit up the floor on their quickstep.Carrie Ann and Bruno were very excited about it, calling him "the Harry Connick Jr. of the ballroom" and "The Artist," respectively. Len was not quite as high on the routine, saying, "I thought you had good movement and posture, you needed cleaner footwork, you lacked body contact ... good, not great."The scores reflected that, as Carrie and Bruno both gave out nines and Len gave William a seven. 'Dancing With the Stars': Donald Driver's elegant quickstep

Donald Driver turned in another solid performance on "Dancing With the Stars," this time with a much quieter, more refined dance in the quickstep than last week's cha-cha. But he and partner Peta Murgatroyd looked as though they've been dancing together forever. The judges liked it. Len went so far as to not only compliment this week ("That was performance was up there with the best I've seen tonight"), but also apologizing for under-marking Donald last week. It's the burden of going first, especially the first week. The judges can't blow it all right out of the gate and he got under-marked.Carrie Ann says of this week, "Your hold was beautiful, I loved the way you were in charge. You were working Peta across the dance floor" and Bruno adds, "Great lines ... refined and elegant."They ended up with straight eights for a 24. 'Dancing With the Stars': Martina Navratilova struggles with the jive

Oh, Martina Navratilova. Bless her heart, but Martina's "Dancing With the Stars" jive reminded us more than a little of when Kate Gosselin danced the jive to "I'm Still Standing." It was just too much of a dance for Martina, who even looked awkward last week on the foxtrot. The judges were very nice to her because she's obviously trying her best and having fun. Carrie Ann says, "I love your attitude ... having fun, but we missed like two counts of eight in the middle. It's so nice to see you out here, I really enjoy your attitude."But also - why is she dressed like a crazy gypsy stripper? That is not OK, the lady still has a killer physique. Yikes. Her total score was a 17, which was easily the lowest of the night so far (and probably altogether). What did you think, "DWTS" fans?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/dancing-with-the-stars-martina-navratilova-struggles-with-the-jive.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Jaleel White stumbles a bit on the jive

The expectations for Jaleel White were high after his amazing foxtrot during "Dancing With the Stars" last week, so we were so disappointed his jive this week seemed to be lacking some oomph, some chutzpah. He didn't seem nearly as light on his feet with this dance and his partner Kym Johnson quickly became the focus. There was a middle section of footwork we really liked, but overall, it wasn't that strong of a dance. "It lacked real attack and speed ... there wasn't a crispness about it, it wasn't sharp. I'm a little disappointed," says Len, and the other judges agreed.Jaleel and Kym ended up getting 22, two sevens from Len and Carrie Ann and an eight from Bruno. What did you think, "DWTS" fans?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/dancing-with-the-stars-jaleel-white-stumbles-a-bit-on-the-jive.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Katherine Jenkins shakes her 'naughty bits' for the jive

Classical singer Katherine Jenkins took to the "Dancing With the Stars" floor with quite a different routine from last week's foxtrot - a jive with partner Mark Ballas set to a Las Vegas theme that had her shaking her "naughty bits" all over the floor. We will say, we thought the jive-y parts were great, but the middle section got a little too far away from the soul of the dance for our taste. And Len thought the same thing! So it's nice to know we've picked up something from watching this show. But the judges were still complimentary. Carrie Ann says, "The tone and extension in your legs, in that quick of a jive. Never seen before, ever ... the hot, the sexy, the damn good choreography! Excellent!" and Bruno adds, "The blonde bombshell is unleashed for your viewing pleasure! Talk about sexy ... that's how you do flicks. That how you do it."The judges gave... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/dancing-with-the-stars-katherine-jenkins-shakes-her-naughty-bits-for-the-jive.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Sherri Shepherd gets her Tina Turner on for the jive

Sherri Shepherd had a bit of misstep during her "Dancing With the Stars" week two performance of a jive with partner Val Chmerkovskiy. But she covered like a champ, shaking her moneymaker like she was channeling Tina Turner herself."Shake rattle and roll! Tina would be proud! You missed a part, but I don't care. I loved it!" shouts Bruno. "I am in love with you. That was a freaking phenomenal routine. This is when confidence can take you past mistakes," says Carrie Ann. And Len adds, "You felt good, the audience felt good, I felt good ... it really worked."So even in the face of a mistake, Sherri came out on top, earning two eights from Carrie Ann and Bruno and a seven from Len. What do you think, "DWTS" fans? Will Sherri be getting your vote?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/dancing-with-the-stars-sherri-shepherd-gets-her-tina-turner-on-for-the-jive.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Roshon Fegan channels swagger into quickstep

Roshon Fegan, who honestly we were not really aware of until "Dancing With the Stars" (he's a Disney Channel star, for those of you who may still be confused), has really come on strong these first two weeks on the show. This week's quickstep with partner Chelsie Hightower was a definite winner."I liked it. Good movement ... it was a little bit wild here and there, but it was young, it was fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed it," says prickly judge Len. Carrie Ann adds, "You turned that swagger into sophistication and elegance, fantastic technique." And Bruno brunos, "Something something BOLT OF LIGHTNING!"The judges gave Roshon a 26, two nines from Carrie Ann and Bruno and an eight from Len. Quite a way to kick off the night.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/dancing-with-the-stars-roshon-fegan-channels-swagger-into-quickstep.html
