Pauline had been busy cleaning house getting ready for the social workers visit. She exaggerated that the SS might split them up and send them all off to care. The visit went better than she expected. She showed Miss Lyons around and that they'd planned to put Lou in the front room since she couldn't get upstairs and they'd need to get a commode for her.
