The series has also added Tim Heidecker ("Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!") in a recurring capacity as Gene, a neighbor of Kenny Powers' who'll likely be a thorn in the baseball player's side. There’s not much of a shake-up with HBO’s fall drama schedule, which keeps Boardwalk Empire‘s fourth season premiere (see the teaser trailer here) in its usual September spot. With The Newsroom airing earlier this summer than last year, a comedy slot has opened up at the end of September that will pair the return of Eastbound & Down (for a “final” season, though we’ve heard that before) along with the new Stephen Merchant comedy Hello Ladies, which will serve as the lead-in. No news yet regarding Treme, whose shortened fourth season should return some time in the fall to conclude the series. "Eastbound & Down" is going into extra innings. HBO's "Eastbound & Down," which stars Danny McBride as self-destructive former pro pitcher Kenny Powers, has received the green light for a fourth season. http://www.thewrap.com/media/tv/article/eastbound-down-gets-4th-season-hbo-46426
We'll come out and say it: Eastbound & Down 's Kenny Powers's insult aesthetic is the most nuanced on television. It's a rare antihero who can both mime catching and throwing a fart (needs to be seen to be understood) and casually name-check the Criterion Collection while dissing your face. His barbs range from the pop cultural ("Maybe I'll find the Ewok village you came from") to the racially suspect but syntactically inspired ("You look like some sort of strange Mexican Grimace") to the sublimely random (" ... popping bubbles out of the air like some sort of fucked up Ray Charles"). As we prepare for Eastbound' s season-three finale on Sunday, we leave you with a monologue of Powers's highly unsuitable for work insults to be properly offended by. Happy Friday. http://www.vulture.com/2012/04/video-let-eastbound-downs-kenny-powers-insult-you-for-two-minutes-straight.html
