More Information
Enchanted is a Golden Globe-nominated 2007 comedy-fantasy-musical film directed by Kevin Lima and released on November 21, 2007 by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie uses live action, traditional animation, and computer-generated imagery, and stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Idina Menzel, Timothy Spall and Susan Sarandon.
In an animated fairy tale world, a young girl meets and falls in love with the handsome prince of her dreams. News of this romance upsets the prince's mother, the evil queen, who uses her black magic to send the girl hurtling out of the animated world into the one place in the universe where there is no true love: modern day Manhattan. The now-real girl has to survive in New York City and find her way home again to her true love.
Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in the blissful cartoon world of Andalasia, where magical beings frolic freely and musical interludes punctuate every interaction. Though Princess Giselle is currently engaged to be married to the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden), her fate takes a turn for the worse when the villainous Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) banishes her to the unforgiving metropolis of New York City. As the cruelty of the big city soon begins to wear down the fairytale exterior of the once carefree princess, the frightened Giselle soon finds herself falling for a friendly, flawed, and engaged divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) whose kind compassion has helped her to survive in this strange and dangerous new world.
