TV ratings: Grammy Awards on par with 2013, Pro Bowl holds steady

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014The 56th Grammy Awards drew about as big an audience as the 55th Grammys, with early ratings showing the prime-time portion of the show (which ran to 11:45 p.m. ET) in line with last year's numbers.Also Sunday, NBC's Pro Bowl telecast was pretty much even with last year's despite the extra competition from the Grammys. "The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine's Wedding" didn't draw much of an audience for ABC, but it did improve significantly on a "Bachelorette" wedding special from December 2012.CBS drew 25.9 million viewers and a 14.6 rating/22 share in households in primetime, beating the combined total of the other three networks. NBC (9.3 million, 5.4/8) came in second, although its numbers may rise with its live football broadcast. TV ratings: Golden Globes steady, NFL playoffs carry CBS Sunday

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014The 2014 Golden Globe Awards scored strong ratings for NBC Sunday, delivering an adults 18-49 rating on par with its performance in last year's fast nationals (pending updates for its live telecast). The Globes did not, however, give NBC a win for the night.That honor belongs to CBS, which rode big numbers for an NFL playoff game in the first hour of primetime to the top spot. After the game, "The Simpsons" delivered its best ratings in a long time, and the rest of the network's animated shows were up as well.Also Sunday, "Revenge" returned to its best 18-49 rating in three months for ABC, and a "Bachelor" preview special did OK. TV ratings: NFL wins the night with NBC 'Sunday Night Football,' CBS runover

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 The NFL continues to help lift networks' ratings through the holiday season. Thanks to a big evening of "Sunday Night Football," NBC won the night. CBS followed behind, largely boosted by its NFL runover. Meanwhile ABC's rebroadcast of "The Sound of Music" was up year-over-year in total viewing, and according to ABC was the most talked about TV program on social media. FOX held on with its animation block including reruns of "Family Guy," "American Dad" and "Bob's Burgers." NBC's average for the night was 13.1 million viewers and a 7.9 rating/13 share in households. CBS followed with 10.3 million and a 6.3/10. ABC held on with 6.5 million and a 3.9/7, while FOX was last with 4.0 million and a 2/4/4. The 18-49 demo followed a similar pattern, with NBC winning with 4.4 and CBS following with 2.1. TV ratings: 'Survivor' finale steady Sunday, 'Family Guy' rises with NFL help

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013The finale of "Survivor: Blood vs. Water" was about even with the show's finale in the spring, but that was only good for third place in Sunday's ratings. NBC and FOX led the way thanks at least in part to NFL games.NBC's "Sunday Night Football" was below average, but it still led its three hours of primetime for the network. FOX's animated shows got a big boost from an afternoon NFL game that ate up nearly an hour of primetime, giving "The Simpsons," "Bob's Burgers" and "Family Guy" their best numbers of the season. ABC's "Once Upon a Time" and "Revenge" went the other way, dropping some from last week.Numbers for NBC, FOX and CBS will all change some with updates for NFL telecasts (CBS primetime started a few minutes late in some markets).
