Haven't seen the movie but the same thing happened with the Simpson's Movie. Really, Spider Pig is just not that funny. Real let down compared to the actual series.

The "new" episode which was aired in March was actually 'Benders Big Score'. I was fairly disappointed... I'd watched the movie online ages before it was on TV and was expecting an actual episode, as in the beginning of Season 6.

Summary
Premiere: March 28, 1999 Status: 6th Season Being Adapted Into 4 Movies
Futurama is an Emmy Award-winning animated American sitcom created by Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons) and David X. Cohen for the Fox network. The series follows the adventures of a former New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry, after he is cryogenically frozen at midnight, December 31, 1999, and is revived one thousand years in the future.
