Game of Thrones Writer Teases "Intimate" Third Season, Focus on Characters

As we inch closer to the Game of Thrones Season 3 premiere on March 31, HBO continues to drop hints, teases and promos related to upcoming episodes. There was the raven-based trailer released last week; and now writer Bryan Cogman is here to take us behind the scenes of the epic drama. In the following video, Cogman explains how the team decides what to keep and what to eliminate from the books, while also referring to this spring as a more "intimate season," during which we'll spend a lot of time with the characters we've grown to love. Or love to hate, in the case of a certain young king. Watch now:

George R. R. Martin reveals new title for his Thrones S3 episode

One of the things we love about Game of Thrones is that George R.R. Martin, the man who's writing the still-ongoing A Song of Ice and Fire saga on which the hit HBO series is based, also gets to write one episode per season. Today, the author revealed that his episode has undergone a title change.

New Game of Thrones: Season 3 Teaser - The Raven

HBO has released a new teaser for Game of Thrones: Season 3. With two and a half months until the show's return, the network is being particularly careful holding back actual new footage from the episodes so far during this campaign. This new teaser instead shows footage not from Westeros, but from our modern day world - set to the "The Rains of Castamere", a song from the George R.R. Martin books. READ MORE...

'Game of Thrones' Season 3 sneak peek: Watch the 'ice and fire' teaser now

As if "Game of Thrones" fans couldn't be more excited about Season 3's return -- which seems as far away as Winterfell from King's Landing -- HBO released a new promo "tease" promo tonight (Nov. 18) before "Boardwalk Empire." And the clip really wasn't much more than a tease -- just a voiceover over a graphic of the show's return date, "03-13-13" (which just happens to be 133 days away). Plus, drums! "The great war is between death and life, ice and fire," says the female narrator ominously. "If we lose the night will never end." What do you think it means? And who is speaking? Quaithe, Selyse Baratheon, Melisandre -- or someone else?...

'Game Of Thrones' Casts Small But Important Season 3 Role

" Game of Thrones " has reportedly cast a small but pivotal Season 3 role -- Roslin Frey -- according to fansite Winter Is Coming . British actress Alexandra Dowling is rumored to have scored the role, after WIC discovered the credit on Dowling's resume . A request for confirmation from HBO was not immediately returned. While fans of the books already know why Roslin's casting is so important to the story, we'll try to keep it spoiler-free for those who haven't read the novels. Suffice it to say, Robb Stark (Richard Madden) was betrothed to an unspecified daughter of House Frey in Season 2 of the HBO drama, but broke that agreement to wed the healer Talisa (Oona Chaplin) at the end of last year, much to his mother's chagrin. The sprawling Frey family, headed by Lord Walder Frey (David Bradley) should play an integral role in Season 3, if the series adheres to the storyline of George R. R. Martin's third book, "A Storm of Swords." Read More...

Game of Thrones Hires Only the Most Famous Drummers

…like Will Champion of Coldplay, who will apparently cameo on season three. The EW report is very tight-lipped about the particulars, but that is not a problem, since you will clearly be able to identify him the minute he appears onscreen. (He will be the guy drumming while Jon Snow sings "Fix You" to the white walkers.)
