'Happy Endings' alum Elisha Cuthbert joins 'One Big Happy' from Ellen DeGeneres

Elisha Cuthbert is staying "Happy" ... although it's not the "Happy" fans want.The "Happy Endings" alum just joined Ellen DeGeneres' gay-themed pilot "One Big Happy," Deadline reports. She will play the female lead in the NBC comedy pilot opposite Nick Zano."One Big Happy" is about two platonic friends since childhood -- a lesbian, Lizzy (Cuthbert), and her straight male best friend, Luke (Zano). They live together and try to have a baby via artificial insemination, and they finally get pregnant ... just as Luke meets and impulsively marries the love of his life. 'Happy Endings' Reunion: Casey Wilson to Star in NBC's David Caspe Pilot

It's a case of life imitating art for Casey Wilson and Happy Endings creator David Caspe . Wilson, who is engaged to her former Happy Endings boss, has been tapped to star in Caspe's new NBC comedy pilot Marry Me , The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Marry Me centers on longtime couple Annie and Jake, who get engaged and quickly realize that it's harder than it looks. 'Happy Endings' Repeats Head to VH1

Fans of Happy Endings , find some solace in syndication. The ABC comedy, which was canceled in May after three seasons, is moving to VH1 later this month. 'Happy Endings' Eliza Coupe heads to USA; 'Chuck' co-creator lands new project at NBC

Former "Happy Endings" star Eliza Coupe has landed her next TV job, starring in a comedy project in the works at USA.The cable channel has ordered a pilot presentation for "Benched," a comedy about a lawyer (Coupe) who takes a job as a public defender after her career as a corporate attorney comes crashing down.Michaela Watkins ("Trophy Wife," "Saturday Night Live") and Damon Jones created "Benched," and Michael Fresco ("Suburgatory") will direct the pilot.More TV news and notes:- "Chuck" co-creator Chris Fedak has a new show in the works at NBC. 'Happy Endings' Season 4 won't happen: Series is officially dead

Time for some not-so ah-maz-ing news: "Happy Endings" is officially dead.Sony Pictures TV's quest to find an adoptive home for the orphaned, and underrated, comedy after ABC abandoned it in a dumpster this May has come to an end. Deadline reports that the cast's contract options expire over the weekend of June 29-30, as the month ends, and with no real option in sight, Sony has no choice but to let them.That's not to say that valiant attempts weren't made to find the quirky little comedy a new network to call home and reach the 100-episode syndication mark. There was early talk that USA, which is entering the half-hour comedy fray this fall with its acquisition of "Modern Family," was interested in snatching "Happy Endings" up in a similar fashion to TBS' rescue of fellow ABC cast-off "Cougar Town."
