Summary
An accomplished actor of stage, screen, and television, Harold Perrineau has earned a reputation as a versatile performer willing to take on any role.
Brooklyn born Harold studied music and theatre at the Shenandoah Conservatory. After several successful stage roles, he shot to fame as the wheelchair bound Augustus Hill in Oz, HBO's tough prison drama. Other TV credits include guest appearances on ER, Law & Order and The Cosby Show.
On the big screen, he was featured in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, as well as The Best Man, where he starred opposite Taye Diggs and Nia Long.
Other feature film credits include Smoke, Woman on Top, Romeo + Juliet, Lulu on the Bridge and Lee Tamahori's The Edge, opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.
He continues to combine a screen career with acting on stage, and recently received critical acclaim for his challenging performance in Blue/Orange, playing a young man diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder.
He was born on 7 August 1968. He has one daughter, Aurora, and divides his time between homes in his native New York City and Los Angeles.
Perrineau took the role of Link in The Matrix series after the original operator Tank was written off the script when Marcus Chong was fired over money disputes.
Lost co-star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje starred with Perrineau on the HBO series Oz.
Perrineau was written off the show with his character leaving the island with his son at the end of season two and did not appear at all in season three; however, it was announced in July 2007 that he will return to the show for its fourth season beginning in February 2008.
