TV ratings: 'Castle' rises Monday but 'Sleepy Hollow' and 'The Voice' drop

Fast National ratings for Monday, Nov. 25, 2013Monday's ratings were pretty much the definition of a mixed bag. ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and the final "Castle" of 2013 each grew some over last week. NBC's "The Voice" and FOX's "Sleepy Hollow," however, fell off a bit. "Almost Human" also dipped some for FOX, while NBC's "The Blacklist" was steady with its last airing two weeks ago. "Mike & Molly" and "Mom" are currently up for CBS, but that may change as the network's San Francisco affiliate carried the "Monday Night Football" game for part of primetime.Monday hour by hour:8 p.m.ABC: "Dancing With the Stars" (13.8 million viewers, 8.9/13 households)NBC: "The Voice" (11.3 million, 6.8/10)CBS: "How I Met Your MOther" (8 million, 4.9/7)/"2 Broke Girls" (7.9 million, 4.8/7)FOX: "Almost Human" (6 million, 3.7/5)The CW: "Hart of Dixie" (1 million, 0.7/1)18-49 leader: "The Voice" (3.2)9 p.m.ABC: "Dancing With the Stars" (14.7 million, 9.4/14)NBC: "The Voice" (11.3... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/tv-ratings-castle-rises-monday-but-sleepy-hollow-and-the-voice-drop.html

'How I Met Your Mother' - 'Bedtime Stories': It's tricky to rock a rhyme

The all-rhyming episode that "How I Met Your Mother" tried Monday (Nov. 25) had a very high potential for disaster. So would a review of the episode that attempted pull off the same trick. So you're not getting the latter -- and the good news is, "Bedtime Stories" was actually a pretty nice episode of late-period "HIMYM." The conceit -- Marshall has to rhyme to get Marvin to sleep -- worked perfectly well to set up a trio of flashback stories centered on Ted, Robin and Barney. The best of the bunch, by a good distance, was Robin's. Ted's and Barney's were mostly variations on long-running character traits, although seeing the various bros who made up the Players' Roundtable in Barney's story was amusing. Robin's tale, though, imparted some new information: Already down from a breakup, she runs into her ex Simon (James Van Der Beek), who's now engaged, and hits bottom, stealing his wedding cake.Somehow, that... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/how-i-met-your-mother---bedtime-stories-its-tricky-to-rock-a-rhyme.html

'How I Met Your Mother' spinoff will be completely separate from 'HIMYM,' creators say

Since CBS and 20th Century Fox TV announced a pilot order for a spinoff of "How I Met Your Mother," some conflicting reports on just what form it will take have been floating around.Just how the show, currently titled "How I Met Your Dad," comes together remains to be seen. "HIMYM" creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas can, however, say for sure what it won't be: a retelling of the "How I Met Your Mother" story from the Mother's (Cristin Milioti) point of view."It's not going to be introduced on 'How I Met Your Mother,'" Thomas says. "'How I Met Your Mother' will have its own concise, neat ending, and this will be a whole new show with all new characters. It's not the Cristin Milioti show, it doesn't back up and tell her story -- it's brand new."In that sense, it's probably better to think about "How I Met Your Dad" as something akin... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/how-i-met-your-mother-spinoff-will-be-completely-separate-from-himym-creators-say.html

'How I Met Your Mother' creators tease 200th episode, what's coming in Season 9

The cast and crew of "How I Met Your Mother" celebrated the show's 200th episode on Thursday (Nov. 21). Amid the cake-cutting and words of praise for the show, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas revealed some of what you'll get to see when the episode airs in January."Our 100th episode ['Girls vs. Suits'] was very much a celebration of the cast. Not that the cast doesn't deserve celebrating even more after 200 episodes, but this one is a different kind of story," Bays says. "It's about the story. It was an episode we intended on doing anyway, and it just happened to fall on the 200th. ... But it felt like the right one to do in terms of the greater story of the show."The episode is called "How Your Mother Met Me," and it will detail how the Mother (Cristin Milioti) got to where she is now -- so expect to see references... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/how-i-met-your-mother-creators-tease-200th-episode-whats-coming-in-season-9.html

'How I Met Your Mother' - 'Mom and Dad': The redemption of Billy Zabka

After a couple of pretty solid, not entirely wedding weekend-focused episodes of "How I Met Your Mother," we returned to all-wedding-hijinx, all-the-time with Monday's (Nov. 18) episode. So let's run down "Mom and Dad" bullet point-style.The good- Singing! It would be a badly missed opportunity to get Neil Patrick Harris, Wayne Brady, Ben Vereen and John Lithgow in the same episode and not have them break into song. Barney's and James' dueling fantasies (which give the episode its title) fill the bill nicely. - Marshall is almost there. The road-trip subplot revolved around Daphne making it to New York in time to see her daughter's Model U.N. speech in the city, and they got there just in time. That means Marshall, barring unforeseen calamity (see below), is just a couple hours away from Farhampton and able to reunite with the gang.- Zabka-tage! If the show has to fill the idle hours between the big events... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/how-i-met-your-mother---mom-and-dad-the-redemption-of-billy-zabka.html

'How I Met Your Mother' spinoff: 'How I Met Your Dad' is a go at CBS

The "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff -- "How I Met Your Dad" -- is set for a pilot at CBS. "HIMYM" co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will write and executive-produce the series with Emily Spivey ("Up All Night").This new spinoff will presumably tell the story from the point of view of the Mother, finally introduced at the end of the past season and played by Cristin Milioti in the current "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9. Production company 20th Century Fox Television has described the project as a new story with new characters, told in the spirit of the original series.According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plan is to shoot the pilot as a stand-alone episode and not as a back-door pilot planted into the current "HIMYM" season. Further connections between the original and spinoff series are not known at this time. Thanks to strengthening ratings over the last few seasons, "How... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/how-i-met-your-mother-spinoff-how-i-met-your-dad-is-a-go-at-cbs.html
