Neil Patrick Harris Reveals Costar's Engagement

Neil Patrick Harris reveals the engagement plans of one of his costars while at a panel discussion for " How I Met Your Mother ." Harris says his current on-screen lover, Cobie Smulders, is engaged to actor Taran Killam. "She's engaged to Taran, who's in the front row, who's one of the luckier men in the world," he says of his costar's fiancé. "[Cobie] is not only beautiful but accessible, funny [and] talented," Harris continued. In addition to walking down the aisle, Cobie is also pregnant along with her costar Alyson Hannigan -- but the cast and crew say that won't be written into the show. Source here

How I Met Your Mother Digs Frances Conroy as Barney's Mom - Featured

'Tis the season for comedies to be casting on-screen parental units, 'twould seem! On the heels of The Big Bang Theory tapping Christine Baranski to mother Leonard, My Name Is Earl recruiting Danny Glover to call Crab Man "son," Scott Bakula making a leap as Chuck 's pop, and 30 Rock picking Patti Lupone to coddle Frank (per EW), How I Met Your Mother has ventured forth to find the woman who gave unto the world... Barney. And it's a darn good get - Frances Conroy, who as Six Feet Under 's matriarch collected a Golden Globe and four Emmy nods. Conroy will appear on the CBS hitcom's 15th episode of the season, "The Stinsons," in which the gang discovers that Barney has a fake wife-and-kid on call should his mother ever come to town. (Apparently New York City's most eligible bachelor has told quite the white lie over the years, as mom Loretta's health ebbed and flowed.) Sure enough, an occasion presents itself where Barney has to produce his "family," and it's Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle's Brooke D'Orsay fulfilling the wifely duties. To date, Barney's mother has been partially glimpsed in flashbacks, but her face never shown. Oh, and his dad is supposedly Bob Barker, but... we're not buying it. What's your take, Mother-lovers? Is Conroy who you envisioned bearing god's gift to women? Source here

How I Met Your Mother's Ted Finds that '70s Gal Groovy

One thing seems fairly certain, she's not the mother. Still, Laura Prepon is poised to have a very good time guest-starring on CBS' How I Met Your Mother later this season. That gal from That '70s Show (as well as October Road ) has been cast in the role of Karen, a rather infamous ex of Ted's. Yeah, it seems these two have been off and on and off again countless times since college - to the point that Lily visibly seethes at the mere mention of repeat-cheater Karen's name. Now, why do I dare venture that Karen isn't the mother? Well, 1) the show isn't called I Had Already Met Your Mother, and 2) Prepon is only around for two episodes, not five as reported elsewhere. But I like this casting, especially given the somewhat naughty nature of Prepon's role. Are you willing to let her break Ted's heart one more time. Source here

How I Met Your Pay Raises

The cast of How I Met Your Mother just recently inked a deal for the whole gang to receive pay raises retroactively for season four and going forward according the The Hollywood Reporter. After months of renegotiation, Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan have inked a deal that will bring their salaries to between $90,000 to $120,000 per each episode. No news on who's on the high end versus the low but we're guessing NPH on the high and Smulders on the low. The great news for fans of How I Met Your Mother is that the renegotiated contract extends the actors' original seven year contracts to eight years. The high rated and recently syndicated show isn't going anywhere. The gang has much to be celebrating for and it's not just cheeseburgers. Sorry Regis, you have no reason to celebrate. Read More >

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Guest star in How I met your Mother

Lately, How I Met Your Mother hasn't exactly been shy about piling on the guest stars. Remember Britney Spears? Well, for tonight's first episode of the new year, it's happening again, with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joining Kim Kardashian for cameos on the show. I was initially wary of the idea, but the way the three of them are being used does make me chuckle: They're the faces on the front of a Them Weekly magazine that Marshall wants to read in the bathroom but can't, because he's afraid that taking the magazine with him is an instant signal that he wants to do a No. 2. OK, so maybe I'm more interested in the night's other plotline, which has Ted and Robin attempting to be roommates and discovering that maybe they got along better when they were sleeping together. But hey, I'm generally in favor of anything that gives this show a ratings boost. Source here

Kim Kardashian in How I Met Your Mother

Kim Kardashian's guest spot on the Neil Patrick Harris-starring smash-hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother is almost ready to air, and the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is offering a sneak preview of her appearance on her official site. The 28-year-old reality-TV sensation and fashion guru plays herself on the episode. She performs as a cover girl for Them Weekly, a periodical that serves as the preferred bathroom reading material for Marshall (played by Jason Segel). Kim comes to life in front of Marshall's eyes, and a laff-riot ensues! Source here

Cast from ''How I Met Your Mother'' gets raises

The cast of CBS' hot comedy series " How I Met Your Mother " got something extra for the holidays: salary bumps. But in a sign of the tough economic times, the five "Mother" stars didn't hit the mother lode that some expected despite the show's solid ratings and strong syndication sales. After months of renegotiations, Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan recently inked new deals with producing studio 20th Century Fox TV that will bring their salaries up to $90,000-$120,000 per episode. On average, that's between two and three times what they made before -- a big raise, especially given that Radnor, Segel and Smulders were virtually unknown before they were cast. Still, it's lower than the pay for the ensembles of other comedies at similar points in their runs, like NBC's " The Office ." The new pacts, retroactive to the beginning of this season, the show's fourth, also add an extra year to the five actors' original seven-year contracts. The "Mother" salary renegotiations followed the lucrative off-network syndication deals in September with stations in the top markets and Lifetime estimated to potentially bring Fox $2.5- $3 million per episode in the first cycle. They also come as "Mother" continues to enjoy ratings momentum, which started after the writers strike ended last spring and carried over to this fall. Source here
