Personal life

Dohring was born in Toledo, Ohio, the son of former Neopets chairman Doug Dohring and wife Laurie, and the eldest of five children. His siblings are two sets of identical twins--one set of boys, one set of girls; Robert and Jonathan Dohring, and Kelsey and Kirsten Dohring. Both set of twins were child actors, as was Dohring. His sisters were notably cast in the role of infant Christine Ellen 'Chrissy' Seaver in Growing Pains. He is a second-generation Scientologist. He is also an expert skier and also enjoys snowboarding, water skiing, golf and boxing.

He and his wife, Lauren, have been married since July 31, 2004.

Career

Dohring got his start in commercials and then moved onto a number of small roles in movies and television. He has appeared on a number of television series, including Roswell, 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd, Cold Case, The Division, Judging Amy, JAG, The Parkers and Boston Public. He has also starred in the feature films Walking on Water, Train Quest, Deep Impact, Black Cadillac, The Deep Below and Broken Record, as well as the Disney Channel movie Ready To Run.

He is best known for his role as Southern Californian rich kid Logan Echolls on the television series Veronica Mars. The show was originally shown on UPN until the network's closing, and was renewed for a third season in 2006 and on a new network, The CW. In 2006, Dohring was nominated for an Ivy award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work in Veronica Mars. In 2007, he starred in a straight-to-DVD release, The Deep Below.

After the cancellation of Veronica Mars, Dohring found work with Warner Bros. and CBS, co-starring in the new television series Moonlight. He plays the vampire Josef Kostan, a mischievous 400 year old hedge-fund trader.
