Mini Biography:

Jennifer Garner, who has catapulted into stardom with her lead role on the series "Alias" (2001), has come a long way from her birthplace of Houston, Texas. Raised in Charleston, West Virginia by her mother Pat, a retired English teacher, and her father, Bill, a former chemical engineer, Jennifer was the middle sibling of three girls, and had a very strict childhood. Jennifer and her sisters were banned from going to movies, wearing make-up, or having their ears pierced. She spent nine years of her adolescence studying ballet and describes her years in dance as ones characterized by determination rather than talent, being driven mostly by a love of the stage.

Jennifer took this determination with her when she enrolled at Denison University as a chemistry major, a decision that was later changed to a drama major when she found that her passions for the stage were stronger than her love of science. New York attracted the young actress after college where she worked as a hostess while pursuing a career in film and television. Her most recent move has been to Los Angeles, a decision that led to a role on the show "Felicity" (1998), where she met her first husband Scott Foley. The couple divorced in 2004.

Jennifer's relationship with her Daredevil co-star Ben Affleck, which started in July 2004, was very low-key. It was months into their relationship before a paparazzo managed to take a shot of these two as a couple. Both stars' publicists denied their relationship until a public appearance at a Boston Red Sox game. When there were rumours of Jennifer being pregnant, there were repeated denials of the pregnancy. On Jennifer's 33rd birthday, Affleck proposed to her with a 4.5 carat (900 mg) diamond ring from Harry Winston, and the couple married on June 29, 2005 in a surprise ceremony at the Parrot Cay resort on the Turks and Caicos Islands. Finally, their publicists confirmed the marriage and pregnancy. At the time, Jennifer was pregnant with the couple's first child. Officiating at the ceremony was her Alias co-star Victor Garber. Her pregnancy was incorporated into the plot of Alias, with the season's episode order reduced from the initial 22 to 17 in order to let Jennifer go on maternity leave. On December 1, 2005, she gave birth to their daughter, Violet Anne Affleck, in Los Angeles, California.

Although Jennifer continued to be billed as "Jennifer Garner" for professional purposes after her marriage to Affleck, she had in fact taken her husband's name and preferred to be known as "Jennifer Affleck" for non-professional purposes. In late 2007, she officially changed her professional name to Jennifer Affleck, revealing this name change when she received a "Special Thanks" credit under her married name on Ben Affleck's directorial debut movie, Gone Baby Gone. This name change was confirmed when she registered to vote in the 2008 Presidential election as Jennifer Affleck, not Jennifer Garner.

In July 2008, after much media speculation on the subject, representatives for the Afflecks confirmed that Jennifer was five months pregnant with the couple's second child.

She appeared on television as Agent Sydney Bristow, who works for the CIA. For her work, Garner has received four consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She has also received four Golden Globe nominations and won once, as well as received two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, and won once.

She has appeared in numerous other television production as well as such films as Elektra (2005), 13 Going On 30 (2004), Daredevil (2003), Pearl Harbor (2001) and Dude, Where's My Car? (2000). Aside from filming "Alias" (2001), Jennifer enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, and inspired by her character on the show, kickboxing.
