  Outstanding.

  This is the kind of series that's essentially made for someone like me - a massive history buff. Like Rome before it, HBO has done a tremendous job of capturing a moment in time in a way that a film simply can't.

  Founding father John Adams isn't your typical HBO protagonist. His greatest failing is not a penchant for murder, adultery or multiple wives. He's not even much of a narcissist. Now that's shocking.
