John Francis Daley (born July 20, 1985) is an American television and film actor and director. He is best known for his portrayal of Sam Weir on the short-lived NBC comedy-drama Freaks and Geeks. In an unusual bit of casting, Daley was the actual age of a high school freshman when he played Weir. Daley has been acting since age nine when he was cast as “Young Tommy” in the U.S. and international tours of the Broadway hit “The Who’s Tommy.” Since then, Daley has worked continuously in television including series such as “The Geena Davis Show,” “Boston Public,” “Regular Joe,” the Fox comedy series “Kitchen Confidential,” “Judging Amy” and “Spin City.” John film credits include “Waiting” with Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris. Additionally, Daley wrote and starred in the comedy short “Friday Night,” currently available on YouTube; he also plays the lead in the independent film "5-25-77."

Daley was born in Wheeling, Illinois to R.F. Daley, an actor, and Nancy Daley, a piano teacher. He has appeared in multiple productions with his father. Daley holds a black belt in Kung Fu.

In 2001, Daley directed a short film titled What Babies Do.[1] In fall 2005, he appeared in the Fox sitcom Kitchen Confidential. He was also featured in the film Waiting..., as Mitch, "The New Guy." In 2007, Daley joined the cast of the Fox drama series Bones in which he plays Dr. Lance Sweets a psychotherapist treating Agent Booth and Dr. Brennan.

Daley is the keyboardist in a band called Dayplayer.
