Wiki

Kristin Landen Davis (also listed as Kristin Lee Davis; born February 23 or February 24,[1] 1965 depending on the source) is an American Golden Globe- and Emmy award-nominated actress, known for the role of Charlotte Goldenblatt on HBO's Sex and the City. Davis was born in Boulder, Colorado.[2] An only child, her parents divorced when she was a baby and she was adopted by her stepfather, psychologist Keith Davis, after he married her mother, Dorothy, a university data analyst, in 1968.[3] She had three step-sisters from her adoptive father's first marriage.[4] Early in her childhood Kristin and her parents moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where her adoptive father served as provost and taught psychology at the University of South Carolina.

Her childhood hero was Gloria Steinem,[citation needed] and wanting to be an actress since aged 10 she was cast in a community theatre production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Davis lived in South Carolina until she graduated from A.C. Flora High School in 1983.[5] She then moved to New Jersey, where she attended Rutgers University

Davis is a recovering alcoholic.[7] She says as part of her southern upbringing, she was introduced to alcohol early: "Alcohol freed me. I was really shy and I didn't know how to come out of my shell. I drank for the same reason I loved acting. I wanted to feel things and express myself and be free. And I'm not naturally that way."[8] She went sober in her mid-20's:[9] “I miss it. You don’t go to rehab and then suddenly it goes away."[10]

Having admitted to a preference for dating actors, her ex-boyfriend list is high profile and extensive, including: Alec Baldwin (with whom she guest starred on both Will & Grace and Friends) Jeff Goldblum, Liev Schreiber and Steve Martin. She says: "If I had one wish for myself, it would be to fall in love. That's asking for trouble, but that's the truth."

Davis currently resides in Los Angeles.
