Biography

Laurel Holloman was born on May 23, 1971 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina and appeared in numerous threater productions while in college. After her first year of college, she moved to Chicago to work with the Piven Theatre Workshop. Holloman moved to New York City in early 1994.

She has been married to production designer Paul Macherey since July 13th 2002. They have a daughter, Lola Reiko Macherey, who was born on November 4th 2004. She has identified herself as bi-sexual since she was 16.

Acting Career

When Holloman moved to New York City she set her eye on the theater and enjoyed success on the stage including roles in Tennessee Williams' Glass Menagerie, Carson McCullers's The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter at Theatre for the New City. She also performed off-Broadway in Julia Jordan's Night Swim at Playwright's Horizons.

In 1995, she kicked off a successful film career with her breakout role as baby butch Randy Dean in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love for which she received critical acclaim and became an icon for many lesbians. After her success in this film she has worked steadily in a variety of mostly independent film roles that showcased her range, such as The Myth of Fingerprints, Boogie Nights, Tumbleweeds, and more.

She is best known for her roles as Justine on Angel and Tina Kennard on the Showtime series The L Word.
