Hey, fans of Legend of the Seeker : You know that 11th hour stay of execution you were hoping for? Well, you can stop hoping now - I'm hearing from multiple sources that the cult fave has been axed. The outlook had been bleak since last March, when many of Tribune Station Group's markets dropped the syndicated series, which had been developed from Terry Goodkind's fantasy novels by Hercules/Xena producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert. ABC Studios, which produces it, kept shopping it around. But, I'm told, they found no takers. So, after two action-packed seasons, Legend is history. Any last thoughts/parting words/favorite memories as the series makes its way to that great TV show graveyard in the sky? Source Here

Fans of the Sword of Truth novels tend to have strong opinions about the way Terry Goodkind's stories have been translated to the screen in Legend of the Seeker. Since I was introduced to the books through the TV series, I tend to be less sensitive to the liberties taken with characters and events from the novels. Still, I thought it would make for an interesting discussion to examine some of the differences between the books and the show, and to discuss whether the changes have been for the better or the worse. Is Legend of the Seeker cancelled? The situation certainly isn't good for the fantasy series, though its ultimate fate remains unclear. KSiteTV has noted that Tribune Company is informing Seeker fans that, "Seeker's ratings do not merit renewing it," and that they won't be bringing the show back for a third season. Legend of the Seeker is produced by ABC Studios, but airs in syndication, sold to local stations across the country. However, TVBytheNumbers.com notes that Tribune apparently owns most, if not all, of the stations the series airs on -- likely purchasing it as a package, to air across the country on various Tribune channels. So Tribune not renewing it is almost the same as if it were airing on a major network who cancelled it. What's unknown yet is if ABC Domestic Television, who distribute the show, might look to other non-Tribune stations across the country to air Legend of the Seeker, or if this definitively marks the end of the series. We'll keep you updated on the situation. Source Here
