On October 12, Haley and Mia from One Tree Hill will head over to Life Unexpected in a special crossover episode. They'll show up in Portland for a radio show concert hosted by Ryan, during which Haley and Cate bond over their similar pasts. Now, The CW has confirmed an appropriate guest star for the installment: Sarah McLachlan will cameo as herself, performing the single "Forgiveness" at the event. After heartily celebrating the news of a renewal, it's time to get down to the business of keeping Life Unexpected good and enjoyable - and the stars weigh in on the road they wish their characters would take. Kerr Smith, for one, is all about breaking the holy Life Unexpected triumvirate of Lux (Britt Robertson), Cate (Shiri Appleby) and Baze (Kristoffer Polaha). If it were up to him, his character Ryan, who got to marry Cate after all the romantic waltzing of season 1, wouldn't be the good guy everyone cut him out to be. "I don't like to play characters that are so clean cut," he tells Zap2it. "I like to get into the dirt, because everybody's got dirt on them. So I'd like to get into Ryan's backstory a little bit." Polaha for his part says he thinks his onscreen daughter Lux will "flourish" after her rebel child run in the inaugural season. "I think she's going to have a feeling of 'Did my parents adopt a lemon?' and she's going to really want to show that she's smart and good and all that stuff, which will sort of lead to chaos and comedy and great times." More than a week after Life UneXpected 's season/series finale aired, it will be a grueling wait for Lux fans up until The CW 's upfront presentation in May 20. The numbers are good (a 1.5 in the CW target 18-34 demo), sort of, and combined with excellent reviews from critics, the CW may just give this charming freshman series another season, at least. For creator Liz Tigelaar, saying she's "confident" about a renewal is too much, especially if it means competing with long-running One Tree Hill, the rumored rival of Life Unexpected for that precious spot in the lineup. "I feel positive about it," she tells Zap2it. "I don't mean that in competition with anybody else. I know there's a lot of speculation that either we're going to get picked up, or One Tree Hill is, and maybe that's true. I think a lot of shows should get picked up. Ratings-wise, we seem on par, but there are so many factors that go into it." To Read More Click Here .
Throughout this week, fans are talking about Life Unexpected for two reasons: 1. Its polarizing finale on Monday night. 2. Its odd of getting renewed for a second season. The CW has until May 19 to reveal the show's fate, but creator Liz Tigelaar sounds optimistic. In an interview with Zap2It, she even discusses storylines and plans for another round of 13 episodes. On the evolution of Lux: We're trying to explore what Lux will do now that she knows Cate and Baze want her. She wants to be somebody worthy of the faith they've put in her. She doesn't want them to think they got a dud, you know? That they just adopted a lemon. To Read More Click Here
Cate (Shiri Appleby) and Ryan (Kerr Smith) intend to walk down the aisle in tonight's season finale of the CW's Life Unexpected (8/7c). But will they make it through the nuptials? The couple has endured many trials, with most of the problems caused by Baze (Kristoffer Polaha). Lux's dad will definitely be an obstacle for Cate to overcome before the wedding. "In Life Unexpected fashion, nothing is easy with the four of us," Britt Robertson, who plays Lux, tells TVGuide.com. "Cate ends up making the right decision for herself, and she ends up finding herself amongst the craziness that is life." With the wedding comes the question of family. "Cate makes a definitive answer in the last episode of what she's going to do with her life and how she's going to deal with Lux being in her life now," continues Robertson. "You'll see that Cate and Lux settle their own problems with each other and become a family. Lux finds a place in her heart to be supportive of Cate either way." Whatever the wedding brings, Robertson says it's a great set-up for Season 2 - should the show get renewed. "There are tons of cliffhangers in the finale," she concludes. It's still pretty much a tug of war between Life UneXpected and One Tree Hill for that precious CW renewal. And while OTH is beating Lux in terms of petition lists and fan base, the rookie series is proving that it can hold its own as far as ratings go. Life Unexpected climbed to its highest rating last week since episode 2, posting a dramatic 36 percent increase in its target 18-34 demo, an18 percent in the all-important 18-34 adult demo and a 7 percent increase in total viewers. Life Unexpected's 2.11 mil even beat out CBS and NBC in the 8pm hour among women 18 to 34. This doesn't mean that One Tree Hill is a ratings pariah - not remotely, since it stands on pretty solid ratings ground. Says TV By the Numbers, if One Tree Hill is going to be canceled, it's going to be on contractual, rather than ratings, issues. Its current season's ratings, however, at 2.39 mil on the average is still a far cry from its blockbuster sophomore season at 4.3 mil. To Read More Click Here .
