Louis C.K. Didn’t Expect Emmy Nominations for ‘Louie’

Comedian and TV actor Louis C.K. says he didn’t expect to get the two Emmy nominations he received this morning for his blunt FX sitcom, “Louie” — and he doesn’t expect to win them, either. “There’s a lot of great stuff up there,” C.K. said in a phone interview with Speakeasy today after he learned of his Emmy nominations for best actor in a comedy and outstanding writing in a comedy series. “The writing one was the one I had a tiny hope for, but not in a million years did I expect to get an acting nomination.” C.K. created, writes, directs and stars in “Louie,” a lightly-fictionalized take on the Manhattan-based comedian’s life and career. “I’m definitely playing a more flawed and stupid version of me,” C.K. said. The show, now in its second season, has been a critical and popular success for the actor after his similar series “Lucky Louie” was cancelled following its single season on HBO. That series originally aired from 2006 to 2007. Read More...

Louis C.K. Takes Advice from Joan Rivers, Then Makes His Move on 'Louie' (VIDEO)

How did  Louis C.K. celebrate his four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on 'Louie' (Thu., 10:30PM ET on FX). In a way, you could say he celebrated by sleeping with Joan Rivers. It happened in the back half of the episode, after Louis was frustrated with the audience during one of his sets and asks to be fired. Not sure why he's dissatisfied while he's still getting paid, he took advantage of an invite to talk with Joan Rivers after her set. The two talked a lot, and candidly, about the comedy business and it's genuinely fascinating stuff. But, in typical 'Louie' fashion, Louis misconstrued some of her statements and abruptly went in for the kiss.

Apartment Shopping Gets Weirder Than a Guy in His Underwear on 'Louie' (VIDEO)

Is Louis C.K. losing his mind on 'Louie' (Thu., 10:30PM ET on FX)? If his experiences apartment hunting are any indication, he's not always seeing things as they really are. And we're not talking about the old guy in his underwear with the toilet in the kitchen. His friend Pamela saw those things. But bizarre is the only way to explain what he saw when looking out the window. A black car pulls up, two men get out and replace a bum standing on the sidewalk with an identical bum. Why? Who knows. This show isn't about explanations. It's about feeling weird. The whole search was weird, and culminated in disappointment anyway as Louis can't even afford to move. So it's just a couple coats of paint and pretending the old place is a new place. At least he won't have to worry about anyone swapping homeless people outside the window ... we think.

Louis C.K. Talks About Joys, Challenges Filming Season Two of ‘Louie’

If you’ve seen actor/comedian Louis C.K.’s absurdist comedy “Louie” on FX, chances are you either love it or don’t get it at all. The show is unique for a variety of reasons, most notably the fact ...

Louis C.K. Gets Asked Out on a Date at His Kid's School on 'Louie' (VIDEO)

Frustrated with his sex life on 'Louie' (Thu., 10:30PM ET on FX), Louis C.K. first strikes out with a woman after he freaks her out on their date. She thought he'd become a deeper person when he started talking about the meaning of life and mortality, and then she absolutely freaked when he said it was because he'd seen a homeless guy get beheaded by garbage truck. Enter, Act Two, in which Louis has an opportunity for sex find him. This is not something that happens often to any man, but less often perhaps for Louis. Nevertheless, after a woman at his daughter's school berates him for not caring about an announcement board v. plasma board issue at the school, she drops a bomb on him.

'Louie' Rushes His Pregnant Sister to the Hospital in Pain (VIDEO)

Louis C.K. returned to FX for the second season premiere of 'Louie' (Thu., 10:30PM ET on FX) picking up tonally right where he left off, awkward and hilarious. The most awkward moment, though, didn't involve Louis at all. His seven-month pregnant sister stopped by, and it was her screams that awoke Louis, his daughters and even his neighbors. So Louis had to learn how to make friends with the neighbors so he could get his sister to the hospital and someone would be able to stay with his daughters. But it was at the hospital that the source of his sister's pain became awkwardly -- and loudly -- apparent. We can only imagine what the hospital bill would be for that gaseous burst. Clearly, she felt better afterward, but just wait for that sticker shock.

'Louie' Season 2 Red Carpet Interview With Louis C.K. (VIDEO)

The first season of 'Louie' succeeded where many other stand-up driven shows have failed, seamlessly melding comedian Louis C.K.'s darkly hilarious worldview into one of the funniest sitcoms on TV. Written, directed by and starring C.K. himself, 'Louie' mixes the incisive perspective he's brought to his stand-up act for years with sitcom-style vignettes that portray the everyday absurdities of regular life. AOL TV caught up with C.K. at his red carpet premiere event at Caroline's Comedy Club in New York to ask him a few questions about Season 2 of 'Louie' (premieres Thurs., June 23, 10:30PM ET on FX).

Check Out a Deleted Scene From the 'Louie' Season 1 DVD

The second season of 'Louie,' the FX comedy from standup comedian Louis C.K., premieres in two short weeks. But if you can't wait until June 23 for your fill of cynical (but hysterical) musings on parenthood and New York City life, AOL TV is here to help. In this exclusive deleted scene from the Season 1 DVD set, available on DVD and Blu-ray June 21, Louie puts his parenting skills to work as he begs and pleads his youngest daughter to apologize for her tantrum. It's nice when we see his softer side, no? Observing the prickly comedian's vulnerability is one of the show's most endearing traits.

Amusing Promo Trailer for Season Two of LOUIE

Last year, one of my favorite new series was Louis C.K.’s self-titled comedy series  Louie  on FX. Like a more gritty, depressing and realistic version of Seinfeld, the show follows Louis C.K. as he deals with the trials and tribulations of being divorced, having two kids, dating and more. And throughout each episode are great stand-up bits from the fantastic comedian himself. Well, thankfully the show is returning this summer for its second season and we have a funny promo for the new season featuring Louis C.K. trying to tell us about the upcoming premiere while his onscreen daughters hop around on the couch. It’s just the right amount of comedy and standard Louis C.K. stoicism and mild depression. The new season premieres on FX June 23rd, at 10:30/9:30c, but in the meantime, check out the promo below.
