The first season finale of 'Louie' (Tuesdays at 11PM ET on FX) felt like a season finale, like Louie was summarizing not only the past season but also telling audiences "this is who I am." My guess is that he made it almost as a series finale, because his experience with 'Lucky Louie' taught him that a second season was far from a guarantee. The episode is Louie, and 'Louie,' in a nutshell: awkward dates, stand-up comedy, and being a dad. In fact, in a lot of respects, it's not much different from what we saw in the pilot, where Louie did stand-up, went on a field trip with one of his daughters, and went on an awkward date. He didn't want to go, but the weepy sitter forced him to enjoy the evening, fearing that if he doesn't at least try to get laid, he'll die alone. So he did what he knows best; he hung out with other comics. But drinking with Todd Barry and Nick DiPaolo doesn't make for an exciting evening, and it doesn't get him laid. So he tried to follow two other, cooler comedians -- one of whom, Godfrey, is almost as old as Louie, but has no problem making fun of Louie's age, anyway -- as they took some random women to a nightclub.
