'MasterChef' finale sees ratings spike

Tuesday’s two-hour  MasterChef  finale shot up in the ratings, delivering the show’s best number of the season. MasterChef  had 6.5 million viewers and a 2.6 preliminary adults 18-49 rating, up 30 percent from last year’s finale, with its second hour ranking as a series high. The cooking competition isn’t officially renewed yet, but with its casting announcements on the air and these finale numbers, you can bet on an eventual pickup. This summer,  MasterChef  felt fresher and more compelling than the genre’s highest-rated show, Fox’s  Hell’s Kitchen . The latter’s shooting-fish-in-barrels format of casting inept cooks for Ramsay to yell at seems tired. Still,  MasterChef ‘s gain wasn’t quite enough to overtake NBC’s  America’s Got Talent  (10 million, 2.7). (Though that depends on whether you count  MasterChef  as a two-hour show that delivered a 2.6 rating or two one-hour shows, with a second hour that hit a 2.8.) Low-rated NBC lead-in  It’s Worth What  (4.1 million, 1.0) had viewers asking, “It’s Called What?” Meanwhile, viewers fled ABC’s  Take the Money and Run  (3.6 million, 1.4), down 22 percent from last week.

MasterChef Winner on Gutting Fish, Lucky Mushrooms and the Villainous Christian

Capping off a two-hour finale Tuesday night, MasterChef named its Season 2 winner, Jennifer Behm, who beat out fellow finalists Adrien Nieto and Christian Collins for the title. "I definitely will not pass up champagne this time," Behm tells The Delaware realtor had notoriously skipped out on a champagne-sipping reward during the competition and opted to cook alongside her rivals, risking elimination. "We actually have a whole case of Joe [Bastianich]'s prosecco from one of his vineyards to celebrate the evening and have a good time."

'MasterChef' winner Jennifer Behm on disarming Joe Bastianich and the importance of dessert

Season 2 of "MasterChef" ended up being a decided victory for Jennifer Behm, the Realtor and former Miss U.S.A. competitor with a passion for comfort food and grilling. She worked her way through some tough criticism -- particularly from judge Joe Bastianich -- to become a front-runner in the last few weeks of competition and ultimately steamroll over fellow finalist Adrien Nieto with an inventive and perfectly-cooked meal three-course meal.Just before the broadcast of the finale, Zap2it chatted with Behm about her experience on the series, and in addition to telling us about the unseen moment where she ultimately wooed Joe, she filled us in on her next steps and why anyone who ever thinks about appearing on a culinary competition should first spend a lot of time thinking about desserts...Congratulations.Thank you! It's been a fun secret to keep. How long have you been keeping this secret? We finished filming the last week in March....

Who Was Crowned the Winner of 'MasterChef'? (VIDEO)

It was a two-part finale of 'MasterChef' (Tue., 8PM ET on FOX) as we whittled our way from three to two to one winner across two hours. In the first hour, it was Christian, Jennifer and Adrien vying for a spot in the final face-off. !!SPOILER ALERT!! They began the round as they'd begun the show, creating dishes of chicken. Despite a presentation that left the judges a little cool, Christian's bacon-wrapped chicken was a hit for its taste. But Adrien scored even higher with the judges, while Jennifer came in last.

'MasterChef' finale: Was it Adrien, Jennifer or Christian?

The Season 2 finale of "Masterchef" aired on FOX Tuesday night, and much to the pleasure of reality-show-villain-haters everywhere, the cartoonishly egotistical Christian was sent packing just before the final stretch. That left Jennifer Behm, the former Miss Delaware and lover of BBQ, and Adrien Nieto, the passionate waiter who embraced his culinary roots over the course of the season. So what was their ultimate challenge? Only making the best home-cooked meal that also embodied them as chefs and as human beings. And after a quick pantry run, Jennifer and Adrien were left to design their ultimate menu.Jennifer went decidedly high-end, with a first plate of scallops and pea puree, followed by a stuffed quail with potato mash and a poached pear dessert. Adrien stuck with familiar flavors he'd used throughout the season, adding chili peppers to every course. He started with a prawn-and-fruit-salsa thing, followed by short ribs with a cauliflower and parsnip puree,...

'MasterChef' Judge Graham Elliot: Suzy Picked Christian for His Talent, Despite His Arrogance

Graham Elliot is a world renowned chef and judge on Fox's 'MasterChef' who'll be guest blogging for AOL TV from time to time this season. Here are his thoughts on this week's episode ... Here we are with the fantastic four! This was a big big deal for us and it was important to show our last four that they are part of a worldwide phenomenon. This competition spans almost 30 countries, and we were confident that our American home cooks could impress the panel of international judges. I'm not surprised Suzy picked Christian. She knows he can be arrogant but I think she has always respected his talent. It really is a battle of two different mindsets: on one hand you have the technical chefs who approach cooking as more of a craft, and on the other you have those who cook with more of an artistic touch. That pantry was out of control. We spent a lot of time making sure we had ingredients that represented the country. There was lamb, beef, pork, lobster, chicken, spot prawns, duck and amazing produce. Nothing says USA like amazing product, and this selection was badass!
