Summary

Meadowlands is a television drama series which focuses on a family trying to escape its past while confronting an even more uncertain future. The series picks up as Danny Brogan (David Morrissey) and Evelyn Brogan (Lucy Cohu) along with their two teenage kids enter a witness protection program and are moved to a bucolic neighborhood, Meadowlands, to begin a new life. Picturesque and crime-free, Meadowlands appears to be a suburban paradise where the Brogan family can begin to start a new life. But they soon realize that it's not so easy to escape the past and their safe haven becomes a world of paranoia and psychological intrigue with surprises around every corner. The series is produced by Showtime Networks Inc., Channel 4 and Ecosse Films, and will premiere in the United States on June 17 at 10pm EST on Showtime. It also debuts the same day on The Movie Network and Movie Central.

Reviews

'Meadowlands' not our cup of tea, but thanks, mates

Excerpt: "Not only does "Meadowlands" fail to reach the level of any number of shows on HBO, Showtime or FX, but it proves that complicated slices of mainstream fare like "Lost" and "Heroes" are wonderful creations that need a lot more respect than they're getting."

"Now, in the right hands, maybe half of these quirks (eerie, silly or otherwise) could be wrangled into something approaching clever. Americans have a tolerance for suburban morality tales meant to tell us that people are not always who you think they are behind the white picket fences. David Lynch can do that in his sleep. Alan Ball did a fine job with "Six Feet Under." And FX's "The Riches" took a big swing at it this season. But to pull off something like that, you can't just have strange behavior for the sake of strange behavior. You need great writing, not just great dance moves."
