Meredith Grey is the main character on ABC's Grey's Anatomy played by Ellen Pompeo. For the first 3 seasons, she was an intern at Seattle Grace Hospital. She lives in her mother's old home and was living with fellow interns Izzie Stevens and George O'Malley though George's room has been used for other friends since he moved out after getting married to Dr. Callie Torres-O'Malley on a whim after his father died in season 3.

She has an on-again-off-again relationship with Dr. Derek Shepherd whom she met in a bar before her first day as an intern and later ended up having a relationship with which was interrupted by his wife, Addison Montgomery, showing up at Seattle Grace. Derek chose to try things again with Addison who'd cheated on him with his best friend, Mark Sloan, while they lived in New York recently.

Later Meredith and Derek get back together, but end the 3rd season with a break up as Meredith is announcing to wedding guests that Cristina Yang and Preston Burke's wedding is off.

Meredith passed her internship exam despite many personal disasters going on at the time, so when the 4th season begins, she will be a doctor at Seattle Grace unless she chooses to find another hospital.
