"American Idol" dropped some for FOX but was the night's top non-Olympic show. ABC, CBS and The CW largely took the night off.NBC averaged 20.8 million viewers and a 12.1 rating/19 share in households in primetime. FOX (11.4 million, 6.7/10) finished second, comfortably ahead of CBS (5 million, 3.1/5). ABC (3.6 million, 2.4/4) came in fourth, and The CW (924,000, 0.6/1) trailed.In the 18-49 demographic, NBC's 5.6 rating led the way, beating out FOX's 3.4. Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014"American Idol" was off slightly from its ratings a week ago on Wednesday, but per usual, it was the night's top-rated show by a wide margin. The show's adults 18-49 rating was more than double that of its closest competitor.A couple of the night's other big shows, "Modern Family" and "Criminal Minds," were in repeats, which resulted in a bit of a boost for NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," which was up for the second straight week. So was its lead-out, "Chicago PD."
